Title
The macOS system must allow smart card authentication.
Control
Verify the macOS system is configured to allow smart card authentication with the following command: /usr/bin/osascript -l JavaScript << EOS $.NSUserDefaults.alloc.initWithSuiteName('com.apple.security.smartcard')\ .objectForKey('allowSmartCard').js EOS If the result is not "true", this is a finding.
Discussion
Smart card authentication must be allowed. Using smart card credentials facilitates standardization and reduces the risk of unauthorized access. When enabled, the smart card can be used for login, authorization, and screen saver unlocking.
