| CVE-2026-47323exploit | 9.8 critical | 20.0% | apache, camel | Camel-CXF and Camel-Knative Message Header Injection via Missing Inbound Filtering The CXF and Knative HeaderFilterStrategy implementations (CxfRsHeaderFilterStrategy in camel-cxf-rest, CxfHeaderFilterStrategy in camel-cxf-transport, and KnativeHttpHeaderFilterStrategy in camel-knative-http) only filter outbound Camel-internal headers via setOutFilterStartsWith, while not configuring inbound filtering via setInFilterStartsWith. As a result, an unauthenticated attacker can inject Camel-internal headers (e.g. CamelExecCommandExecutable, CamelFileName) via HTTP requests to CXF-RS or CXF-SOAP endpoints. When a route forwards messages from these endpoints to header-driven components such as camel-exec or camel-file, the injected headers override configured values, enabling remote code execution or arbitrary file writes. This is the same pattern that was previously addressed in camel-undertow (CVE-2025-30177), the broader incoming-header filter (CVE-2025-27636 and CVE-2025-29891), and non-HTTP strategies (CVE-2026-40453). This issue affects Apache Camel: from 3.18.0 before 4.14.6, from 4.15.0 before 4.18.2. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.19.0, which fixes the issue. If users are on the 4.18.x LTS releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.18.2. If users are on the 4.14.x LTS releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.14.6. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-46592exploit | 7.5 high | 1.0% | apache, camel | Improper Input Validation, Unintended Proxy or Intermediary ('Confused Deputy') vulnerability in Apache Camel CXF SOAP component. The camel-cxf producer selects which SOAP operation to invoke on the backend service from the operationName (and operationNamespace) Exchange header, whose constant values (CxfConstants.OPERATION_NAME / OPERATION_NAMESPACE) were the plain strings operationName / operationNamespace. Because these names do not start with the Camel / camel prefix, HttpHeaderFilterStrategy - which blocks only the Camel header namespace on the HTTP boundary - let them pass from an inbound HTTP request straight into the Exchange. In a route that bridges an HTTP consumer (for example platform-http) into a cxf: producer, any HTTP client could therefore set the operationName header and have CxfProducer resolve and invoke a different WSDL operation than the route intended - for example replacing a read operation with a destructive one - against the backend SOAP service (a confused-deputy redirection). The constant is defined in the shared camel-cxf-common module, so the same non-prefixed names also applied to camel-cxfrs. No credentials are required when the bridging consumer is unauthenticated. This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.0.0 before 4.14.8, from 4.15.0 before 4.18.3, from 4.19.0 before 4.21.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.21.0, which fixes the issue. If users are on the 4.14.x LTS releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.14.8. If users are on the 4.18.x releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.18.3. After upgrading, the operation-selection headers are named CamelCxfOperationName / CamelCxfOperationNamespace and are filtered at transport boundaries; see the 4.21 upgrade guide for the cross-transport carrier-header pattern. For deployments that cannot upgrade immediately, do not select the CXF operation from untrusted input: strip the operationName and operationNamespace headers from any untrusted ingress before the cxf: producer and set the operation from a trusted source in the route. | Sun 25 Oct |
| CVE-2026-63621exploit | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, camel | Improper Input Validation, Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Output Used by a Downstream Component ('Injection') vulnerability in Apache Camel Knative component The Knative consumer in camel-knative maps inbound CloudEvent attributes onto Camel message headers. In binary content mode the HTTP-header path filters Camel-internal headers through KnativeHttpHeaderFilterStrategy, but in structured content mode (Content-Type application/cloudevents+json) the CloudEvent extension fields are read directly from the JSON body and every extension key is copied into the Exchange headers without applying any HeaderFilterStrategy (CloudEventProcessors, spec versions 1.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2). As a result, an unauthenticated attacker can inject Camel-internal headers (e.g. CamelHttpUri, CamelHttpPath, CamelFileName) via a structured-mode CloudEvent request, matched case-insensitively against Camel's header map. When a route forwards messages from a Knative consumer to a header-driven component such as camel-http or camel-file, the injected headers override configured values, enabling server-side request forgery (SSRF), path traversal or message-dispatch redirection depending on the route. This is an incomplete fix of the inbound header filtering previously added for the binary content-mode path, and is the same pattern addressed in camel-cxf/camel-knative (CVE-2026-47323), camel-undertow (CVE-2025-30177), the broader incoming-header filter (CVE-2025-27636 and CVE-2025-29891), and the non-HTTP strategies (CVE-2026-40453). This issue affects Apache Camel: from 3.15.0 before 4.14.9, from 4.15.0 before 4.18.4, from 4.19.0 before 4.21.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.22.0, which fixes the issue. If users are on the 4.18.x LTS releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.18.4. If users are on the 4.14.x LTS releases stream, then they are suggested to upgrade to 4.14.9. The non-LTS releases 4.15.0 through 4.17.0 and 4.19.0 through 4.21.0 are affected but do not receive a maintenance fix; users on those versions should upgrade to 4.18.4 or 4.22.0. | 12 Oct |
| CVE-2026-85257exploit | 5.3 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Generation of Error Message Containing Sensitive Information vulnerability in Apache Camel CXF component. This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.0.0 before 4.18.5, from 4.19.0 before 4.22.1. When a route behind a CXF SOAP consumer failed with an exception the service contract does not declare, the exception was described back to the SOAP client in the fault: CXF copies the message into the SOAP faultstring, and can be configured to place the stack trace in the fault detail. An external caller able to provoke a failure could therefore read internal detail about the deployment - class and package names, and whatever the exception message carries. Declared faults, annotated @WebFault, are a different matter: those are part of the published contract that clients are written against, and suppressing them would break the service rather than protect anything. Upgrade to Apache Camel 4.23.0, which fixes the issue. Users on the 4.18.x LTS releases stream should upgrade to 4.18.5. Users on the 4.22.x LTS releases stream should upgrade to 4.22.1. A muteException consumer option, defaulting to true, replaces an undeclared route failure with a generic fault carrying no class name, message or stack trace. Faults the contract declares are reported exactly as before. Set muteException=false to restore the previous output. For deployments that cannot upgrade immediately, declare the exceptions the service is allowed to report and map every other failure onto one of them in an onException handler, so no undeclared exception reaches the fault. | 19 Oct |
| CVE-2026-85315exploit | 5.3 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Generation of Error Message Containing Sensitive Information vulnerability in Apache Camel gRPC component. This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.0.0 before 4.18.5, from 4.19.0 before 4.22.1. When a route behind a gRPC consumer failed, the exception's message was placed into the gRPC status description. Unlike the status cause, which stays local to the server, the description is transmitted to the calling client, so an external caller able to provoke a failure could read the internal error message. What that discloses depends on the exception, and in practice includes class and package names, paths, host names and connection detail carried in messages. This is the gRPC member of the same unmuted-consumer-exception family as the knative, mina and CXF advisories published alongside it. Upgrade to Apache Camel 4.23.0, which fixes the issue. Users on the 4.18.x LTS releases stream should upgrade to 4.18.5. Users on the 4.22.x LTS releases stream should upgrade to 4.22.1. A muteException consumer option, defaulting to true, puts a generic description in the status instead of the route exception's message. Set muteException=false to restore the previous output. For deployments that cannot upgrade immediately, map failures onto an explicit status in an onException handler so the framework never copies the exception message into the description. | 19 Oct |
