| CVE-2025-64738 | 5.5 medium | 0.00% | zoom, meeting_software_development_kit, workplace_desktop | External control of file name or path in Zoom Workplace for macOS before version 6.5.10 may allow an authenticated user to conduct a disclosure of information via local access. | 18 Oct |
| CVE-2026-96321 | 5.5 medium | 0.00% | microsoft, windows_10_21h2, windows_10_22h2, windows_11_23h2 | Out-of-bounds read in Remote Desktop Display Driver allows an authorized attacker to disclose information locally. | 16 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105896 | 5.5 medium | 0.00% | adobe, photoshop | Photoshop Desktop is affected by a NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability that could result in an application denial-of-service. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to crash the application, leading to a denial-of-service condition. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. | 16 Oct |
| CVE-2025-23143 | 5.5 medium | 0.00% | linux, debian, linux_kernel, debian_linux | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: Fix null-ptr-deref by sock_lock_init_class_and_name() and rmmod. When I ran the repro [0] and waited a few seconds, I observed two LOCKDEP splats: a warning immediately followed by a null-ptr-deref. [1] Reproduction Steps: 1) Mount CIFS 2) Add an iptables rule to drop incoming FIN packets for CIFS 3) Unmount CIFS 4) Unload the CIFS module 5) Remove the iptables rule At step 3), the CIFS module calls sock_release() for the underlying TCP socket, and it returns quickly. However, the socket remains in FIN_WAIT_1 because incoming FIN packets are dropped. At this point, the module's refcnt is 0 while the socket is still alive, so the following rmmod command succeeds. # ss -tan State Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address:Port Peer Address:Port FIN-WAIT-1 0 477 10.0.2.15:51062 10.0.0.137:445 # lsmod | grep cifs cifs 1159168 0 This highlights a discrepancy between the lifetime of the CIFS module and the underlying TCP socket. Even after CIFS calls sock_release() and it returns, the TCP socket does not die immediately in order to close the connection gracefully. While this is generally fine, it causes an issue with LOCKDEP because CIFS assigns a different lock class to the TCP socket's sk->sk_lock using sock_lock_init_class_and_name(). Once an incoming packet is processed for the socket or a timer fires, sk->sk_lock is acquired. Then, LOCKDEP checks the lock context in check_wait_context(), where hlock_class() is called to retrieve the lock class. However, since the module has already been unloaded, hlock_class() logs a warning and returns NULL, triggering the null-ptr-deref. If LOCKDEP is enabled, we must ensure that a module calling sock_lock_init_class_and_name() (CIFS, NFS, etc) cannot be unloaded while such a socket is still alive to prevent this issue. Let's hold the module reference in sock_lock_init_class_and_name() and release it when the socket is freed in sk_prot_free(). Note that sock_lock_init() clears sk->sk_owner for svc_create_socket() that calls sock_lock_init_class_and_name() for a listening socket, which clones a socket by sk_clone_lock() without GFP_ZERO. This will call the net_dm_monitor_start() function that uses a spinlock that has not yet been initialized. To fix this, let's place resource initialization above the registration of a generic netlink family. | CVE-2026-114121 | 5.4 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to versions 42.11.3, 43.7.0, 44.3.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.5, requests to open external protocol URLs could be attributed to a document other than the one that initiated them, causing the requestingUrl passed to session.setPermissionRequestHandler to identify trusted content for a launch requested by untrusted content. An application that grants openExternal based on the requesting origin and allows untrusted content to open or navigate windows could therefore allow that content to launch an OS-registered external application. This issue is fixed in versions 42.11.3, 43.7.0, 44.3.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.5. | Wed 28 Oct |
| CVE-2026-113798 | 5.4 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to versions 42.11.9, 43.7.6, 44.5.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.13, pointerLock permission requests from some cross-origin iframes caused session.setPermissionRequestHandler() to receive the top-level frame's requestingUrl and isMainFrame values instead of those of the requesting frame. An application that embeds untrusted iframe content and grants pointer lock based on the requesting origin could therefore grant the permission under the top-level page's identity. Applications that deny pointerLock for untrusted embedded content are not affected. This issue is fixed in versions 42.11.9, 43.7.6, 44.5.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.13. | Wed 28 Oct |
| CVE-2026-35207 | 5.4 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | dde-control-center is the control panel of DDE, the Deepin Desktop Environment. plugin-deepinid is a plugin in dde-control-center, which provides the deepinid cloud service. Prior to 6.1.80, plugin-deepinid is configured to skip TLS certificate verification when fetching the user's avatar from openapi.deepin.com or other providers. An MITM attacker could intercept the traffic, replace the avatar with a malicious or misleading image, and potentially identify the user by the avatar. This vulnerability is fixed in dde-control-center 6.1.80 and 5.9.9. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-3341 | 5.4 medium | 0.00% | langflow, langflow_desktop | IBM Langflow Desktop 1.0.0 through 1.9.2 IBM Langflow is vulnerable to server-side request forgery (SSRF). This may allow an authenticated attacker to send unauthorized requests from the system, potentially leading to network enumeration or facilitating other attacks. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-113800 | 5.4 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to versions 42.11.3, 43.7.0, 44.3.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.5, hid and usb permission checks made from an iframe caused setPermissionCheckHandler to receive the top-level frame's origin and details instead of the requesting frame's. An application that delegated hid or usb to a cross-origin untrusted iframe and allowed device access with origin-based logic could therefore grant that embedded frame access intended for the top-level page. This issue is fixed in versions 42.11.3, 43.7.0, 44.3.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.5. | 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-108072 | 5.4 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Vulnerability due to incorrect permissions in TSplus Remote Access shared login scripts. The autostart1.tscr files, located in the shared themes directory, allow users without sufficient privileges to write to them. A local attacker with a valid session on the terminal or remote desktop server could modify these files to execute arbitrary commands within another user’s security context when that user logs in using the same theme or operating mode. Depending on the affected user’s privileges, exploitation could allow lateral movement between users or privilege escalation. | 15 Oct |
| CVE-2026-70612 | 5.4 medium | 0.00% | electronjs, electron | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3, requests to open external protocol URLs from web content did not take iframe sandbox restrictions into account, so a sandboxed iframe could cause an OS-registered external application to be launched. The frame sandbox state was also not made available to the app permission handlers, affecting apps that render untrusted content in sandboxed iframes and grant the openExternal permission by default when no setPermissionRequestHandler is installed. This issue is fixed in 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3. | 8 Oct |
| CVE-2026-112303 | 5.3 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | GDevelop desktop app through 5.6.284 contains a credential leak vulnerability that allows attackers to steal the gd_resource cookie by supplying attacker-controlled resource URLs in project files. Attackers can get victims to open a crafted project, causing downloadLocalFile() to send the cookie to their server and expose private cloud project resources. | 19 Oct |
| CVE-2026-101897 | 5.1 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. From 1.20.0 until 1.21.1, the Angular DevTools background service worker accepts chrome.runtime.sendMessage runtime messages from untrusted web pages or third-party content scripts without adequately verifying the message source. An untrusted sender that obtains a valid randomized victim tabId can direct the extension to use chrome.debugger to attach to another browser tab and trigger Chrome DevTools Protocol breakpoints. This can display the debugging banner, pause JavaScript execution, and prevent interaction with the target tab, but it does not provide remote code execution, privilege escalation, or cross-origin access to memory or credentials. This issue is fixed in version 1.21.1. | Thu 29 Oct |
| CVE-2026-42890 | 4.8 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Actual is an open-source personal finance application. In the macOS desktop application version 25.x (built on Electron 39.2.7), the ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE fuse is not disabled, allowing an attacker who can place a file on disk or control command-line arguments to invoke the signed Actual.app binary with the ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE=1 environment variable set. This converts the application into a Node.js REPL capable of executing arbitrary code that inherits the application's entitlements and code signature, bypassing macOS Gatekeeper review. Version 26.5.0 patches the issue. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-50703 | 4.8 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in Frappe Framework version 17.0.0-dev due to improper neutralization of user-controlled input in the Desk desktop icon renderer. | 25 Oct |
| CVE-2026-69974 | 4.7 medium | 0.00% | microsoft, windows_10_1809, windows_10_21h2, windows_10_22h2 | Out-of-bounds read in Desktop Window Manager allows an authorized attacker to disclose information locally. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-15060 | 4.7 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | When systemd-machined >= v259 (or v258 with a custom `polkit` policy that allows `register-machine` access) is running on a desktop system, an unprivileged user logged in a desktop graphical session can kill arbitrary processes, even privileged ones. - versions older than v259 are not affected, unless unprivileged access is granted for the `register-machine` polkit action via a local, custom policy config file - versions older than v258 are not affected - unrelated to the systemd service manager (pid 1 or user session managers) - systemd-machined is not typically installed by default, and is typically in an optional, separate package (e.g.: systemd-container) - terminal-only or remote sessions (e.g.: ssh) are not affected | 23 Oct |
| CVE-2025-66270 | 4.7 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | The KDE Connect protocol 8 before 2025-11-28 does not correlate device IDs across two packets. This affects KDE Connect before 25.12 on desktop, KDE Connect before 0.5.4 on iOS, KDE Connect before 1.34.4 on Android, GSConnect before 68, and Valent before 1.0.0.alpha.49. | 18 Oct |
| CVE-2026-75025 | 4.7 medium | 0.00% | mattermost, mattermost_desktop | Mattermost Desktop App versions <=6.2 6.2.2.0 Fixed an issue where Mattermost Desktop did not sufficiently restrict server-rendered content from accessing local or private network resources. Thanks to game0v3r for contributing to this improvement under the Mattermost responsible disclosure policy. Mattermost Advisory ID: MMSA-2026-00698 | 13 Oct |
| CVE-2026-107857 | 4.4 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Mindwtr is a free offline-first task management application for desktop and mobile. Prior to 1.1.5, the mobile application writes the Cloud sync bearer token and WebDAV password to unencrypted AsyncStorage under @mindwtr_cloud_token and @mindwtr_webdav_password. A party with access to the application database or an exposed device backup can recover these credentials and use them to access the user's synchronized tasks and attachments. This issue is fixed in version 1.1.5. | 16 Oct |
| CVE-2026-109592 | 4.3 medium | 0.00% | wordpressdotorg, openstation – admin dashboard notes, custom dashboard, ai assistant & pwa | The OpenStation: Desktop Windows, Dock & Virtual Desktops for WP Admin plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.16. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to modify arbitrary other users' placement rows (position, sort order, parent folder, and meta) and read serialized metadata — including title, permalink, and post status — of the entities those orphaned placements reference. Exploitation requires at least one orphaned placement to exist — a state produced naturally by the plugin's own trash cascade, which marks a parent folder as trashed while leaving child placements' parent_id intact — and the attacker must first self-enable OpenStation via the save-openstation AJAX endpoint, which requires only the 'read' capability held by every default WordPress role. This was also independently found by the OpenStation team. | Fri 30 Oct |
| CVE-2025-32900 | 4.3 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | In the KDE Connect information-exchange protocol before 2025-04-18, a packet can be crafted to temporarily change the displayed information about a device, because broadcast UDP is used. This affects KDE Connect before 1.33.0 on Android, KDE Connect before 25.04 on desktop, KDE Connect before 0.5 on iOS, Valent before 1.0.0.alpha.47, and GSConnect before 59. | 18 Oct |
| CVE-2026-78417 | 4.3 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Insufficient verification of data authenticity in the IronVNC client in Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager 2026.2.17.0 and earlier, 2026.1.24.0 and earlier, allows an on-path attacker to intercept and tamper with VNC sessions via automatic acceptance of the server's RSA key during RSA-AES authentication. | 12 Oct |
| CVE-2026-70600 | 4.3 medium | 0.00% | electronjs, electron | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3, the native autofill popup could be positioned by a cross-origin iframe outside that iframe's bounds, over the embedding page's UI, enabling clickjacking or spoofing of trusted UI. Apps are only affected if they embed untrusted content in iframes within windows that also display trusted UI. Apps that do not embed untrusted third-party content are not affected. This issue is fixed in versions 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3. | 8 Oct |
| CVE-2026-113796 | 4.2 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to versions 42.11.3, 43.7.0, 44.3.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.6, Electron treated pages opened into a new window from links as application-initiated navigations instead of preserving the page containing the link as the initiator. The resulting top-level request could be classified as same-site, causing SameSite=Strict cookies to be sent and Sec-Fetch-Site not to identify the initiating page. An application that loads untrusted content and permits it to open new windows could therefore allow that content to make a credentialed request to another site that relies on SameSite cookies for CSRF protection. This issue is fixed in versions 42.11.3, 43.7.0, 44.3.0, and 45.0.0-alpha.6. | 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-71381 | 4.0 medium | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Service on Windows is affected by an Incorrect Authorization vulnerability that could result in a Security feature bypass. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass security measures and gain unauthorized limited write access. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction, but requires the attacker to access the target desktop system locally (e.g., keyboard, console), or remotely (e.g., SMB). | 24 Oct |
| CVE-2026-114122 | 3.9 low | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to versions 42.11.6, 43.7.3, 44.4.3, and 45.0.0-alpha.9, frame data received from the GPU process for webContents.beginFrameSubscription was not fully validated by the main process. An attacker who had separately gained code execution in the GPU process could supply inconsistent frame geometry and cause the main process to read out-of-bounds memory while producing captured frame images, disclosing memory or crashing the application. This issue is fixed in versions 42.11.6, 43.7.3, 44.4.3, and 45.0.0-alpha.9. | Wed 28 Oct |
| CVE-2026-114124 | 3.9 low | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to versions 42.11.6, 43.7.3, 44.4.3, and 45.0.0-alpha.9, frame data received from the GPU process for macOS offscreen rendering was not fully validated by the main process. An attacker who had separately gained code execution in the GPU process could provide inconsistent frame geometry and cause the main process to read out-of-bounds memory while producing paint event images, disclosing memory or crashing the application. This issue is fixed in versions 42.11.6, 43.7.3, 44.4.3, and 45.0.0-alpha.9. | 23 Oct |
| CVE-2025-13326 | 3.9 low | 0.00% | mattermost, mattermost_desktop | Mattermost Desktop App versions <6.0.0 fail to enable the Hardened Runtime on the Mattermost Desktop App when packaged for Mac App Store which allows an attacker to inherit TCC permissions via copying the binary to a tmp folder. | 13 Oct |
| CVE-2026-70598 | 3.9 low | 0.00% | electronjs, electron | Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to 39.8.10, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3, offscreen rendering frame data received from the GPU process was not fully validated by the main process. A compromised GPU process could cause the main process to read out-of-bounds memory while producing paint event images, disclosing memory or crashing the app. This issue is fixed in 39.8.10, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3. | 8 Oct |
| CVE-2026-49996 | 3.7 low | 0.00% | no CPE yet | SecureDrop Client is a desktop app for journalists to securely communicate with sources and handle submissions on the SecureDrop Workstation. Prior to version 1.3.1, a malicious SecureDrop Server could bypass securedrop-proxy's origin limitation by responding with cross-origin redirects. SecureDrop Server itself has multiple layers of built-in hardening, and is a dedicated physical machine exposed on the internet only via Tor hidden services for the Source and Journalist interfaces, and optionally via remote SSH access over another Tor hidden service. A newsroom's SecureDrop Workstation communicates only with its own dedicated SecureDrop Server. Version 1.3.1 fixes the issue. | 18 Oct |
| CVE-2026-12284 | 3.7 low | 0.00% | mattermost, mattermost_desktop | Mattermost Desktop App versions <=6.2 6.2.2.0 fails to validate the IPC sender in the leaveCall handler which allows a malicious or compromised Mattermost server (or a user with script access to a connected server view) to disconnect an active call belonging to a different connected server via the desktopAPI.leaveCall IPC message. | CVE-2026-0747 | 3.3 low | 0.00% | devolutions, remote_desktop_manager | Exposure of sensitive information in the TeamViewer entry dashboard component in Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager 2025.3.24.0 through 2025.3.28.0 on Windows allows an external observer to view a password on screen via a defective masking feature, for example during physical observation or screen sharing. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2025-14408 | 3.3 low | 0.00% | sodapdf, soda_pdf | Soda PDF Desktop PDF File Parsing Out-Of-Bounds Read Information Disclosure Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of Soda PDF Desktop. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of PDF files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated object. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-27143. | 19 Oct |
| CVE-2025-13321 | 3.3 low | 0.00% | mattermost, mattermost_desktop | Mattermost Desktop App versions <6.0.0 fail to sanitize sensitive information from Mattermost logs and clear data on server deletion which allows an attacker with access to the users system to gain access to potentially sensitive information via reading the application logs. | 13 Oct |
| CVE-2025-12792 | 3.2 low | 0.00% | no CPE yet | The Mac App Store distribution of the Canva for Mac desktop app before 1.117.1 was built without Hardened Runtime. A local threat actor with unprivileged access could execute arbitrary code that inherits the TCC (Transparency, Consent, and Control) permissions assigned to Canva. | 19 Oct |
| CVE-2025-66549 | 2.7 low | 0.00% | nextcloud, desktop | Nextcloud Desktop is the desktop sync client for Nextcloud. Prior to 3.16.5, when trying to manually lock a file inside an end-to-end encrypted directory, the path of the file was sent to the server unencrypted, making it possible for administrators to see it in log files. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.16.5. | 15 Oct |
| CVE-2026-75588 | 2.6 low | 0.00% | mattermost, mattermost_desktop | Mattermost Desktop App versions <=6.2 6.2.2.0 fail to validate the URL scheme when checking whether a target URL is internal to the connected server, which allows a network-positioned attacker to load a plugin popout window over an insecure connection via a link using a downgraded URL scheme. Mattermost Advisory ID: MMSA-2026-00717 | 13 Oct |
| CVE-2026-6842 | 2.5 low | 0.00% | no CPE yet | A flaw was found in nano. In environments with permissive umask settings, a local attacker can exploit incorrect directory permissions (0777 instead of 0700) for the `~/.local` directory. This allows the attacker to inject a malicious `.desktop` launcher, which could lead to unintended actions or information disclosure if the launcher is subsequently processed. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2025-13743 | 2.4 low | 0.00% | docker, docker_desktop | Docker Desktop diagnostics bundles were found to include expired Hub PATs in log output due to error object serialization. This poses a risk of leaking sensitive information in exported diagnostics, especially when access denied errors occurred. | 14 Oct |
| CVE-2026-7701 | 2.1 low | 0.00% | no CPE yet | A security vulnerability has been detected in Telegram Desktop up to 6.7.5. This vulnerability affects the function RequestButton of the file Telegram/SourceFiles/boxes/url_auth_box.cpp of the component Bot API. The manipulation of the argument login_url leads to null pointer dereference. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. There is ongoing doubt regarding the real existence of this vulnerability. Upgrading to version 6.7.6 is able to resolve this issue. Upgrading the affected component is recommended. The vendor provides this rationale for the dispute: "[T]he described scenario does not lead to any security issue or vulnerability, and only causes a one-time crash. In the outlined scenario, the targeted user must perform an active action, which doesn't produce any consequences after the app is relaunched." | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-113411 | 2.1 low | 0.00% | no CPE yet | A vulnerability was found in Nerimity Desktop up to 2.2.2. Affected by this issue is the function shell.openExternal of the file src/mainWindow.js of the component Window Open Handler. The manipulation of the argument url results in improper authorization in handler for custom url scheme. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been made public and could be used. Upgrading to version 2.3.3 can resolve this issue. The patch is identified as f4df21bbc290f6c1956d899cf4da9e963074a6e4. You should upgrade the affected component. The vendor was contacted early, responded in a very professional manner and quickly released a fixed version of the affected product. | 22 Oct |
| CVE-2025-11489 | 1.1 low | 0.00% | wonderwhy-er, desktopcommandermcp | A security vulnerability has been detected in wonderwhy-er DesktopCommanderMCP up to 0.2.13. This vulnerability affects the function isPathAllowed of the file src/tools/filesystem.ts. The manipulation leads to symlink following. The attack can only be performed from a local environment. The attack's complexity is rated as high. It is stated that the exploitability is difficult. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. The vendor explains: "Our restriction features are designed as guardrails for LLMs to help them stay closer to what users want, rather than hardened security boundaries. (...) For users where security is a top priority, we continue to recommend using Desktop Commander with Docker, which provides actual isolation. (...) We'll keep this issue open for future consideration if we receive more user demand for improved restrictions." This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer. | 8 Oct |
| CVE-2026-117956 | unscored | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Invalid pointer in the Nimbus Desktop Client component. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 159, Firefox ESR 153.6, Thunderbird 159, and Thunderbird 153.6. | Tue 27 Oct |
| CVE-2025-40072 | unscored | 0.00% | no CPE yet | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fanotify: Validate the return value of mnt_ns_from_dentry() before dereferencing The function do_fanotify_mark() does not validate if mnt_ns_from_dentry() returns NULL before dereferencing mntns->user_ns. This causes a NULL pointer dereference in do_fanotify_mark() if the path is not a mount namespace object. Fix this by checking mnt_ns_from_dentry()'s return value before dereferencing it. Before the patch $ gcc fanotify_nullptr.c -o fanotify_nullptr $ mkdir A $ ./fanotify_nullptr Fanotify fd: 3 fanotify_mark: Operation not permitted $ unshare -Urm Fanotify fd: 3 Killed int main(void){ int ffd; ffd = fanotify_init(FAN_CLASS_NOTIF | FAN_REPORT_MNT, 0); if(ffd < 0){ perror("fanotify_init"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } printf("Fanotify fd: %d\n",ffd); if(fanotify_mark(ffd, FAN_MARK_ADD | FAN_MARK_MNTNS, FAN_MNT_ATTACH, AT_FDCWD, "A") < 0){ perror("fanotify_mark"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } return 0; } After the patch $ gcc fanotify_nullptr.c -o fanotify_nullptr $ mkdir A $ ./fanotify_nullptr Fanotify fd: 3 fanotify_mark: Operation not permitted $ unshare -Urm Fanotify fd: 3 fanotify_mark: Invalid argument [ 25.694973] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000038 [ 25.695006] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [ 25.695012] #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page [ 25.695017] PGD 109a30067 P4D 109a30067 PUD 142b46067 PMD 0 [ 25.695025] Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI [ 25.695032] CPU: 4 UID: 1000 PID: 1478 Comm: fanotify_nullpt Not tainted 6.17.0-rc4 #1 PREEMPT(lazy) [ 25.695040] Hardware name: VMware, Inc.
