CVE-2026-54525 8.8 high 0.00% no CPE yet Markdown Preview Enhanced is a Markdown preview extension for Visual Studio Code. Prior to 0.8.28, Markdown Preview Enhanced preview-link handling passes a decoded, Markdown-controlled link target to a Windows file-opening helper that invokes child_process.exec with the start command. When a Windows user opens an untrusted Markdown file and clicks a crafted external or unsupported-scheme link, shell metacharacters in the decoded target are interpreted by cmd.exe as command separators, allowing an attacker-selected command to run with the privileges of the current VS Code user. The attack requires one normal preview-link click but does not require malicious workspace configuration, script execution to be enabled, or additional files. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.28. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-106558 8.8 high 0.00% linuxfoundation, backstage_plugin-techdocs-node, backstage Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.8, 1.15.6, and 2.0.1, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package improperly validated mapping-style markdown_extensions configuration. An authenticated attacker who can register or influence an SCM-backed documentation source may bypass TechDocs sanitization and cause Python objects to be imported and instantiated in the generator runtime, leading to arbitrary code execution. Earlier fixes in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4 did not fully address the supported mapping representation of markdown_extensions. Impact is greatest when documentation generation runs with backend credentials, filesystem access, or internal network access. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.8, 1.15.6, and 2.0.1. 13 Oct
CVE-2019-25781 8.7 high — python-markdown, markdown Python-Markdown 3.0 through 3.11.2 contains an algorithmic complexity vulnerability in inline link parsing that allows remote attackers to exhaust CPU through unmatched brackets. Attackers can submit short Markdown containing repeated [ or ![ characters, forcing LinkInlineProcessor.getText() and getLink() into quadratic scans that keep workers busy for minutes. 15 h ago
CVE-2026-118694 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet python-markdown2 through 2.5.5 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows remote users to exhaust CPU by submitting Markdown with unclosed inline link destinations. Attackers can submit repeated '[a](' or '![a](' sequences, causing _find_balanced to rescan the remaining document for each link and consume quadratic CPU time. Wed 28 Oct
CVE-2024-58382 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet league/commonmark versions before 2.6.0 contain polynomial time complexity vulnerabilities in Markdown parsing that allow attackers to cause denial of service. Attackers can submit carefully crafted Markdown inputs designed to trigger worst-case performance, and sending multiple requests in parallel exhausts CPU resources and PHP-FPM processes. Tue 27 Oct
CVE-2026-41680 8.7 high 0.00% marked_project, marked Marked is a markdown parser and compiler. From 18.0.0 to 18.0.1, a critical Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in marked. By providing a specific 3-byte input sequence a tab, a vertical tab, and a newline (\x09\x0b\n)—an unauthenticated attacker can trigger an infinite recursion loop during parsing. This leads to unbounded memory allocation, causing the host Node.js application to crash via Memory Exhaustion (OOM). This vulnerability is fixed in 18.0.2. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-115349 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet Mistune from 3.0.0 before 3.3.0 contains an algorithmic complexity denial of service vulnerability in the parse_link_text function in src/mistune/helpers.py. Attackers can submit markdown with deeply nested square brackets triggering quadratic parsing time, exhausting server CPU with small crafted requests. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-115347 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet Mistune before 3.3.0 contains an inefficient algorithmic complexity vulnerability in parse_link_text that allows remote attackers to cause denial of service through unbalanced square brackets. Attackers can submit markdown containing long runs of unmatched brackets to mistune.html(), triggering repeated forward scans that stall worker processes for minutes. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-48801 8.7 high 0.00% markdown-it, linkify-it linkify-it is a links recognition library with full Unicode support. Prior to 5.0.1, LinkifyIt.prototype.match, the package's primary public API, has O(N²) algorithmic complexity for inputs containing many fuzzy links or emails because the JavaScript-level scan loop re-slices input and re-runs unanchored regex searches on progressively shorter tails. Any service that synchronously renders untrusted Markdown with linkify:true on a request hot path can inherit a worker-process denial of service triggerable by a tens-of-KB request body. This issue is fixed in version 5.0.1. Sat 24 Oct
CVE-2026-115352 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet Mistune before 3.3.0 contains an algorithmic complexity vulnerability in the inline link parser that allows unauthenticated attackers to exhaust CPU by submitting long runs of unmatched '[' characters. Attackers can send small markdown payloads that trigger O(N^2) parse_link_text and parse_link_label probing, occupying rendering workers for 30+ seconds per 16 KB input. Fri 23 Oct
CVE-2026-115348 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet Mistune from 3.0.0 before 3.3.0 contains an algorithmic complexity vulnerability in the inline link parser's parse_link_text function that allows unauthenticated attackers to exhaust CPU with unbalanced brackets. Attackers can submit Markdown containing many unbalanced '[' or '![' characters, forcing repeated unbounded forward scans and tying up worker processes for minutes. Fri 23 Oct
CVE-2026-69089 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet Grav CMS 2.0.10 contains a path traversal vulnerability in ImageMedium::watermark(), which passes its unsanitized $image argument to RocketTheme\Toolbox\ResourceLocator\UniformResourceLocator::findResource(). Because the file:// scheme branch only lexically collapses '..' segments without a realpath/containment check, an editor authoring Markdown image syntax with traversal sequences can cause arbitrary image files outside Grav's media sandbox to be composited into a carrier image, which is then cached and served from a public, unauthenticated URL — disclosing those files to anonymous visitors. Fri 23 Oct
CVE-2026-55839 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet Kestra is an open-source, event-driven orchestration platform. Prior to 1.3.24, Kestra's custom Markdown parser in ui/src/utils/markdown_plugins/link.ts allows a user with permission to create or update a Flow description to inject JavaScript event-handler attributes through the custom [[link]] syntax, causing stored cross-site scripting when another user opens the description or information panel in the Flow list. This issue is fixed in version 1.3.24. 22 Oct
CVE-2026-105830 8.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet league/commonmark from 2.0.0 before 2.10.2 contains a quadratic-time denial of service vulnerability in the GitHub Flavored Markdown Table extension's TableStartParser::tryStart() block-start scan. Unauthenticated attackers can submit a large paragraph of pipe-free lines not starting with letters, forcing repeated full-buffer strpos scans that exhaust PHP worker CPU. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-86430 8.7 high 0.00% thephpleague, commonmark league/commonmark versions before 2.9.1 contain multiple denial of service vulnerabilities in fenced code block detection, reference link label lookup, and emphasis delimiter processing that perform super-linear work on crafted input. Attackers can submit specially crafted Markdown with long backtick runs, nested brackets, or delimiter sequences to consume disproportionate CPU time and prevent legitimate requests from completing. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-86428 8.7 high 0.00% thephpleague, commonmark commonmark versions from 1.5.0 before 2.10.0 contain a denial of service vulnerability in the AttributesExtension when processing distinctly-named attributes. Attackers can submit Markdown with numerous distinct attribute names to cause quadratic-time attribute merging and filtering, consuming disproportionate CPU resources and preventing legitimate requests from completing. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-49493 8.6 high 0.00% no CPE yet Markdown Preview Enhanced before 0.8.28 parses Bitfield fenced code blocks with interpretJS(), which evaluates the block content as code via vm.runInNewContext(), allowing arbitrary code execution. A crafted markdown document containing a malicious bitfield code block executes attacker-controlled code on the server side when the document is rendered or exported. Fixed in 0.8.28 by parsing bitfield register definitions with JSON5.parse(), since they are purely data. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-71270 8.6 high 0.00% no CPE yet Stirling-PDF's POST /api/v1/convert/url/pdf endpoint (ConvertWebsiteToPDF.java) was not updated with the CustomHtmlSanitizer/SsrfProtectionService SSRF protections that were added to three sibling conversion endpoints (html/pdf, file/pdf, markdown/pdf). Sat 24 Oct
CVE-2026-104077 8.5 high 0.00% no CPE yet Obsidian Desktop before 1.14.0 contains a remote code execution vulnerability that allows attackers to craft malicious Markdown notes exploiting insufficient sanitization of the data-background-iframe attribute, which bypasses DOMPurify and is processed by the bundled Reveal.js 4.3.1 within the Slides core plugin, allowing a javascript: URL to execute in the resulting background iframe. Because Node integration is enabled and context isolation is disabled in Obsidian's vault renderer, the injected script can call parent.require() to access Node APIs such as fs and child_process, enabling arbitrary operating system command execution when the victim opens the note and manually starts the presentation. Tue 27 Oct
CVE-2026-73220 8.5 high 0.00% no CPE yet CVAT is an open source interactive video and image annotation tool for computer vision. From 2.68.0 until 2.70.0, the audio-task annotation guide renderer in cvat-ui/src/audio/components/annotation-page/audio-workspace/top-bar/audio-right-group.tsx passes attacker-controlled guide Markdown to MDEditor without the rehype-sanitize plugin. A user who can create or edit an annotation guide can store malicious JavaScript that executes when another user opens the guide. The script can issue arbitrary CVAT requests with the victim user's privileges. This issue is fixed in version 2.70.0. 18 Oct
CVE-2026-54566 8.5 high 0.00% no CPE yet Markdown Preview Enhanced is a Markdown preview extension for Visual Studio Code. Prior to 0.8.29, Markdown Preview Enhanced evaluates repository-controlled .crossnote/config.js and .crossnote/parser.js files with vm.runInNewContext, which does not provide a security boundary from the Node.js host realm. Opening a Markdown file in a malicious repository automatically loads these files, and prototype-chain traversal can reach the host Function constructor and process object, allowing operating-system commands to execute as the victim account without further interaction. Both configuration evaluation and parser-hook evaluation are affected, and the attack does not depend on module-scoped require being available. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.29. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-62143 8.3 high 0.00% no CPE yet A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) protection bypass existed in the html_to_markdown expansion module of misp-modules. The module attempts to prevent requests to loopback, private, link-local, and other restricted IP address ranges. However, IP addresses were compared against the blocked ranges without first normalising IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses. An authenticated attacker able to invoke the module could supply an IPv4-mapped IPv6 address, such as: http://[::ffff:127.0.0.1]/ http://[::ffff:169.254.169.254]/ Alternatively, the attacker could use a hostname that resolves to an IPv4-mapped IPv6 address. These addresses were treated as IPv6 addresses and therefore did not match the corresponding blocked IPv4 ranges. Successful exploitation could cause the misp-modules server to connect to services available through its loopback interface, internal network, or link-local network. This could expose internal web services, administrative interfaces, or cloud instance metadata, with retrieved content potentially returned to the attacker as converted Markdown. The vulnerability has been addressed by normalising IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses to their underlying IPv4 representation before applying the blocked-range checks. URLs without a valid hostname are now also rejected. Sat 24 Oct
CVE-2025-42620 8.3 high 0.00% no CPE yet In affected versions, vulnerability-lookup handled user-controlled content in comments and bundles in an unsafe way, which could lead to stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). On the backend, the related_vulnerabilities field of bundles accepted arbitrary strings without format validation or proper sanitization. On the frontend, comment and bundle descriptions were converted from Markdown to HTML and then injected directly into the DOM using string templates and innerHTML. This combination allowed an attacker who could create or edit comments or bundles to store crafted HTML/JavaScript payloads which would later be rendered and executed in the browser of any user visiting the affected profile page (user.html). This issue affects Vulnerability-Lookup: before 2.18.0. 14 Oct
CVE-2026-33206 8.2 high 0.00% calibre-ebook, calibre calibre is a cross-platform e-book manager for viewing, converting, editing, and cataloging e-books. Prior to version 9.6.0, a path traversal vulnerability exists in Calibre' handling of images in Markdown and other similar text-based files allowing an attacker to include arbitrary files from the file system into the converted book. Additionally, missing authentication and server-side request forgery in the background-image endpoint in the ebook reader web view allow the files to be exfiltrated without additional interaction. Version 9.6.0 contains a fix. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-86016 8.2 high 0.00% no CPE yet VNote is a note-taking platform. Prior to 4.3.0, VNote uses the assignment `preNode.innerHTML = p_metaData` in src/data/extra/web/js/markdownit.js to insert YAML frontmatter metadata into a pre element before the protectFromXss sanitization path runs. Opening an attacker-supplied Markdown note can therefore execute stored JavaScript in the file:// viewer context. Because QWebEngineSettings::LocalContentCanAccessRemoteUrls enables local content to access remote URLs, the script can read reachable local note files and transmit their contents to a remote server without further interaction after the note is opened. This issue is fixed in version 4.3.0. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-54682 8.2 high 0.00% no CPE yet DiscordChatExporter saves Discord chat logs to a file. Prior to 2.47.2, HTML exports generated with markdown formatting disabled pass attacker-controlled content through FormatMarkdownAsync and FormatEmbedMarkdownAsync in DiscordChatExporter.Core/Exporting/MessageGroupTemplate.cshtml and render it without HTML entity encoding. The affected fields include message.Content, message.ForwardedMessage.Content, message.ReferencedMessage.Content, embed.Title, embed.Description, field.Name, and field.Value. A Discord webhook or bot can store a script payload in these fields, and the payload executes when a user exports the channel with markdown formatting disabled and opens the resulting HTML, allowing the script to read the export or alter its displayed content. This issue is fixed in version 2.47.2. 14 Oct
CVE-2026-78385 8.2 high 0.00% no CPE yet RansomLook contains insufficient resource validation in the analysis PDF generation functionality. Analysis documents are converted from Markdown to HTML and passed to WeasyPrint for PDF rendering. Prior to the fix, WeasyPrint used its default URL fetcher, allowing resource references contained in an analysis to be resolved without restrictions. An authenticated attacker able to create or modify an analysis could embed crafted resource references using schemes such as file:// or http://. When the analysis was subsequently rendered as PDF, WeasyPrint would process these references with the privileges and network access of the RansomLook server. A malicious file:// reference could cause the renderer to access arbitrary files readable by the RansomLook process, potentially exposing sensitive configuration, credentials, or other local data through rendered resources. Network URLs could cause the server to initiate requests to localhost, internal network services, or external systems, resulting in server-side request forgery (SSRF) and potentially bypassing network-level access restrictions. The patch introduces a dedicated WeasyPrint URL fetcher that permits only data: resources, the RansomLook report logo, and files contained within the analysis asset directory. Network resources and filesystem paths outside these explicitly permitted locations are rejected. 14 Oct
CVE-2026-75056 7.8 high 0.00% jetbrains, intellij_idea In JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA before 2026.2.1 rCE via Markdown export tool was possible Fri 23 Oct
CVE-2026-106510 7.7 high 0.00% linuxfoundation, backstage_plugin-techdocs-node, backstage Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.6, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package is affected by remote code execution via crafted markdown_extensions in techdocs mkdocs.yml. An authenticated user who can register catalog entities can provide a crafted mkdocs.yml causing arbitrary OS command execution on the TechDocs build host when the docs are built. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4. 13 Oct
CVE-2026-106557 7.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.6 and 1.15.4, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package did not sufficiently validate TechDocs Markdown extension configuration. An authenticated user who can register or modify documentation sources may cause a TechDocs build to access resources outside the intended documentation boundary, potentially exposing backend-host data or internal network resources. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4 when pymdown-extensions 10.21.3 or later is also used, normally through mkdocs-techdocs-core 1.7.0 or later. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-108260 7.6 high 0.00% no CPE yet Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 0.2.1, the tina-markdown element in packages/@tinacms/web-components/src/tina-markdown.js assigns a rich-text node.url value directly to an anchor href without validating the URL scheme. A content author can store a link using a script-capable scheme, and a visitor who clicks the rendered link executes attacker-controlled script in the site's origin. The script can access same-origin application data and, when the visitor is an editor or administrator, may expose credentials stored by the TinaCMS admin on that origin. This issue is fixed in version 0.2.1. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-40890 7.5 high 0.00% gomarkdown, markdown The package `github.com/gomarkdown/markdown` is a Go library for parsing Markdown text and rendering as HTML. Processing a malformed input containing a < character that is not followed by a > character anywhere in the remaining text with a SmartypantsRenderer will lead to Out of Bounds read or a panic. This vulnerability is fixed with commit 759bbc3e32073c3bc4e25969c132fc520eda2778. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-102941 7.5 high 0.00% no CPE yet The package github.com/gomarkdown/markdown is a Go library for parsing Markdown text and rendering as HTML. Prior to 0.0.0-20260724235538-61af6e1e6971, parser.IsSafeURL in parser/parser.go slices url[:nPath] before the len(url) >= nPath guard. A short destination causes a slice-bounds panic when the loop reaches a relative-path prefix for which len(url) < nPath and cap(url) < nPath. The one-byte destination / is an explicit non-panic counterexample because it matches the first valid path and returns before a longer prefix is sliced. Demonstrated panic cases include empty, ., and .. destinations under those conditions. The panic is reachable when markdown.ToHTML renders untrusted Markdown with html.Safelink enabled, including an empty link destination, and is also reachable by callers that pass a short attacker-controlled URL directly to the exported parser.IsSafeURL function. An uncaught panic can terminate the calling process and cause denial of service. This issue is fixed in 0.0.0-20260724235538-61af6e1e6971. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-88753 7.5 high 0.00% no CPE yet A Regular-Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) in the Markdown2. extract_metadata() function (lib/markdown2.py) of trentm markdown2 through v2.5.5 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted Markdown document. 20 Oct
CVE-2026-76098 7.5 high 0.00% no CPE yet Mistune is a Python Markdown parser with renderers and plugins. Versions 3.3.0 through 3.3.2 are vulnerable to DoS through deeply nested tokens. HTML rendering creates deeply nested emphasis tokens from consecutive asterisk characters, and recursive rendering in HTMLRenderer.render_token() can exceed Python's recursion limit and raise RecursionError, allowing crafted Markdown to crash a parsing process. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.3 12 Oct
CVE-2026-54702 7.3 high 0.00% no CPE yet Markdown Preview Enhanced is a Markdown preview extension for Visual Studio Code. Prior to 0.8.30, the webview message handler in src/preview-provider.ts accepts an attacker-controlled command value and attacker-controlled args, constructs a command in the _crossnote namespace, and invokes vscode.commands.executeCommand without an allowlist or type validation. JavaScript already executing in the preview webview can use this bridge to invoke privileged extension commands, including file modification, code-chunk execution, export-tool execution, and arbitrary URL opening, with attacker-selected arguments. Exploitation requires a separate webview JavaScript execution path, such as the independently tracked .crossnote/head.html injection, but no further authorization check protects the extension-host command boundary. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.30. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-109288 7.2 high 0.00% no CPE yet Open WebUI before 0.11.4 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in MarkdownInlineTokens.svelte, which renders markdown link URLs into anchor hrefs without validating their scheme. Authenticated users can embed javascript: links in shared chats that, when clicked by a victim, steal the victim's JWT from local storage, including admins' tokens. Fri 23 Oct
CVE-2026-54070 7.1 high 0.00% no CPE yet SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, renderPackageREADME in kernel/bazaar/readme.go renders a Bazaar package README from Markdown to HTML with the lute engine and SetSanitize(true). The lute sanitizer is an event-handler blocklist: allowAttr rejects only attribute names present in a fixed eventAttrs map copied from the w3schools legacy handler list. That map omits modern event handlers. onpointerover, onpointerdown, onauxclick, onbeforetoggle, onfocusin, onanimationstart, and ontransitionend are not in the list, so the sanitizer passes them through verbatim on any tag. The frontend assigns the rendered HTML to mdElement.innerHTML in app/src/config/bazaar.ts with no client-side DOMPurify on this path, into a normal element in the main document (no iframe, no sandbox). The kernel sends no Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options, or X-Content-Type-Options header on any response, so an inline handler runs when its event fires. The README is rendered when an Administrator opens a package in Settings → Marketplace, after the one-time marketplace trust consent. Install is not required. Result: a third-party Bazaar package author runs JavaScript in the Administrator's authenticated SiYuan origin when the Administrator views and interacts with the package listing, and gains full control of the workspace. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-115354 7.1 high 0.00% no CPE yet Mistune before 3.3.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the opt-in Include directive that allows attackers to read local files by supplying relative or absolute include paths. Attackers who submit Markdown rendered via Markdown.read() can disclose files such as /etc/passwd and inject unescaped HTML or script content into rendered output. 22 Oct
CVE-2026-108372 7.1 high 0.00% no CPE yet Open and provider-neutral, LoopX is a lightweight state kernel and local-first control plane for loop engineering. From version 0.0.1 until 0.4.5, `loopx serve-status` in `loopx/status_server.py` uses `StatusRequestHandler._send_json()` and `do_OPTIONS()` to send `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *` for unauthenticated responses on predictable loopback ports. A remote attacker can cause an operator who visits attacker-controlled web content to issue cross-origin requests to `GET /status.json`, `GET /review-material?goal_id=...&path=...`, `GET /`, and `POST /control-plane/configure-goal/dry-run`, exposing control-plane state, goal and run information, local absolute paths, private Markdown files below registered goal roots, and dry-run configuration projections. The affected routes do not provide cross-origin writes or arbitrary-file access. This issue is fixed in version 0.4.5. 21 Oct
CVE-2026-111364 7.1 high 0.00% no CPE yet MinDoc through 2.2-beta.2 contains an insecure direct object reference vulnerability in DocumentController.Content that allows authenticated users to read documents from unauthorized books. Attackers holding a non-observer role on any book can name that book and iterate sequential document ids to read markdown and HTML from private books. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-109324 7.1 high 0.00% no CPE yet Grav before 2.1.7 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows authenticated media authors to exhaust memory by uploading compressed oversized raster images. Attackers can reference a Twig or Markdown transform so GD or Imagick decodes the full source without dimension checks, letting anonymous requests repeatedly cause page unavailability. 13 Oct
CVE-2026-39423 6.9 medium 0.00% maxkb MaxKB is an open-source AI assistant for enterprise. Versions 2.7.1 and below contain an Eval Injection vulnerability in the Markdown rendering engine that allows any user capable of interacting with the AI chat interface to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browsers of other users, including administrators, resulting in Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). This issue has been fixed in version 2.8.0. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-42841 6.9 medium 0.00% getgrav, grav Grav is a file-based Web platform. Prior to 2.0.0-beta.2, an authenticated user with page editing permissions can inject an executable JavaScript event-handler attribute into rendered image HTML through Grav's Markdown media action syntax. The issue is caused by Markdown image query parameters being converted into callable media actions. The public attribute() media method can be reached this way, allowing an editor to set an arbitrary HTML attribute name and value on the generated image element. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.0.0-beta.2. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-54701 6.9 medium 0.00% no CPE yet Markdown Preview Enhanced is a Markdown preview extension for Visual Studio Code. Prior to 0.8.30, Markdown Preview Enhanced reads repository-controlled .crossnote/head.html content and passes it through resolvePathsInHeader before inserting it into the head of the preview webview document without removing executable content. Script-capable markup executes while the document loads, before the React application and DOMPurify initialize, and can access acquireVsCodeApi to send messages from the webview to the extension host. Opening a Markdown preview in a malicious repository is sufficient to trigger the injected content, and no additional click within the notification or preview is required. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.30. 20 Oct
CVE-2025-66400 6.9 medium 0.00% unifiedjs, mdast-util-to-hast mdast-util-to-hast is an mdast utility to transform to hast. From 13.0.0 to before 13.2.1, multiple (unprefixed) classnames could be added in markdown source by using character references. This could make rendered user supplied markdown code elements appear like the rest of the page. This vulnerability is fixed in 13.2.1. 18 Oct
CVE-2026-86432 6.9 medium 0.00% no CPE yet commonmark versions from 2.0.0 before 2.8.4 contain a denial of service vulnerability in XmlRenderer that emits depth-proportional indentation for every XML tag. Attackers can provide deeply nested Markdown or AST structures to cause quadratic memory consumption and output amplification, exhausting server resources. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-86431 6.9 medium 0.00% thephpleague, commonmark league/commonmark (thephpleague/commonmark) versions >= 2.7.0 and < 2.9.1 contain a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the AttributesExtension. Prefixing an attribute name with a single U+000C form feed byte (e.g. {\x0Conclick="alert(1)"}) bypasses the AttributesHelper::filterAttributes() 'on*' event-handler filter because PHP's trim() does not strip U+000C, causing the attribute to be written verbatim into the output where browsers parse it as a genuine event handler. The same prefix also defeats the allow_unsafe_links check, allowing javascript: URIs through href/src attributes even when allow_unsafe_links is false. Exploitation requires processing untrusted Markdown with the AttributesExtension enabled; the injected script executes when the rendered HTML is viewed. Fixed in 2.9.1. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-22551 6.7 medium 0.00% eclipse, theia In Eclipse Theia versions prior to 1.71.0, the AI chat rendered Markdown image tags from AI responses, triggering HTTP requests to arbitrary external URLs without restriction. Combined with prompt injection in a malicious workspace, an attacker could induce the AI agent to construct image URLs encoding sensitive information from the workspace or conversation context, exfiltrating it to attacker-controlled servers. The workspace trust enforcement introduced in v1.71.0 mitigates the documented attack chain by disabling AI features in untrusted workspaces. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-39378 6.5 medium 0.00% jupyter, nbconvert The nbconvert tool, jupyter nbconvert, converts Jupyter notebooks to various other formats via Jinja templates. In versions 6.5 through 7.17.0, when `HTMLExporter.embed_images=True`, nbconvert's markdown renderer allows arbitrary file read via path traversal in image references. A malicious notebook can exfiltrate sensitive files from the conversion host by embedding them as base64 data URIs in the output HTML. nbconvert 7.17.1 contains a fix. As a workaround, do not enable `HTMLExporter.embed_images`; it is not enabled by default. Mon 26 Oct
