The bug is that the loop at the end of kmsan_internal_set_shadow_origin() accesses the wrong shadow memory bytes when the address is not 4-byte aligned. Since each 4 bytes are associated with an origin, it rounds the address and size so that it can access all the origins that contain the buffer. However, when it checks the corresponding shadow bytes for a particular origin, it incorrectly uses the original unrounded shadow address. This results in reads from shadow memory beyond the end of the buffer's shadow memory, which crashes when that memory is not mapped. To fix this, correctly align the shadow address before accessing the 4 shadow bytes corresponding to each origin. 19 Oct

This breaks an assumption made later in pagemap_scan_backout_range(), that page_region is always allocated for p->vec_buf_index. Fix it by explicitly checking p->vec_buf for NULL before dereferencing. Other sites that might run into same deref-issue are already (directly or transitively) protected by checking p->vec_buf. Note: From PAGEMAP_SCAN man page, it seems vec_len = 0 is valid when no output is requested and it's only the side effects caller is interested in, hence it passes check in pagemap_scan_get_args(). This issue was found by syzkaller. 19 Oct
CVE-2025-40052 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix crypto buffers in non-linear memory The crypto API, through the scatterlist API, expects input buffers to be in linear memory. We handle this with the cifs_sg_set_buf() helper that converts vmalloc'd memory to their corresponding pages. However, when we allocate our aead_request buffer (@creq in smb2ops.c::crypt_message()), we do so with kvzalloc(), which possibly puts aead_request->__ctx in vmalloc area. AEAD algorithm then uses ->__ctx for its private/internal data and operations, and uses sg_set_buf() for such data on a few places. This works fine as long as @creq falls into kmalloc zone (small requests) or vmalloc'd memory is still within linear range. Tasks' stacks are vmalloc'd by default (CONFIG_VMAP_STACK=y), so too many tasks will increment the base stacks' addresses to a point where virt_addr_valid(buf) will fail (BUG() in sg_set_buf()) when that happens. In practice: too many parallel reads and writes on an encrypted mount will trigger this bug. To fix this, always alloc @creq with kmalloc() instead. Also drop the @sensitive_size variable/arguments since kfree_sensitive() doesn't need it. CVE-2025-40072 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fanotify: Validate the return value of mnt_ns_from_dentry() before dereferencing The function do_fanotify_mark() does not validate if mnt_ns_from_dentry() returns NULL before dereferencing mntns->user_ns. CVE-2025-40100 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: do not assert we found block group item when creating free space tree Currently, when building a free space tree at populate_free_space_tree(), if we are not using the block group tree feature, we always expect to find block group items (either extent items or a block group item with key type BTRFS_BLOCK_GROUP_ITEM_KEY) when we search the extent tree with btrfs_search_slot_for_read(), so we assert that we found an item. However this expectation is wrong since we can have a new block group created in the current transaction which is still empty and for which we still have not added the block group's item to the extent tree, in which case we do not have any items in the extent tree associated to the block group. The insertion of a new block group's block group item in the extent tree happens at btrfs_create_pending_block_groups() when it calls the helper insert_block_group_item(). This typically is done when a transaction handle is released, committed or when running delayed refs (either as part of a transaction commit or when serving tickets for space reservation if we are low on free space). So remove the assertion at populate_free_space_tree() even when the block group tree feature is not enabled and update the comment to mention this case. Syzbot reported this with the following stack trace: BTRFS info (device loop3 state M): rebuilding free space tree assertion failed: ret == 0 :: 0, in fs/btrfs/free-space-tree.c:1115 ------------[ cut here ]------------ kernel BUG at fs/btrfs/free-space-tree.c:1115! CVE-2025-40181 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/kvm: Force legacy PCI hole to UC when overriding MTRRs for TDX/SNP When running as an SNP or TDX guest under KVM, force the legacy PCI hole, i.e. memory between Top of Lower Usable DRAM and 4GiB, to be mapped as UC via a forced variable MTRR range. In most KVM-based setups, legacy devices such as the HPET and TPM are enumerated via ACPI. ACPI enumeration includes a Memory32Fixed entry, and optionally a SystemMemory descriptor for an OperationRegion, e.g. if the device needs to be accessed via a Control Method. If a SystemMemory entry is present, then the kernel's ACPI driver will auto-ioremap the region so that it can be accessed at will. However, the ACPI spec doesn't provide a way to enumerate the memory type of SystemMemory regions, i.e. there's no way to tell software that a region must be mapped as UC vs. WB, etc. As a result, Linux's ACPI driver always maps SystemMemory regions using ioremap_cache(), i.e. as WB on x86. The dedicated device drivers however, e.g. the HPET driver and TPM driver, want to map their associated memory as UC or WC, as accessing PCI devices using WB is unsupported. On bare metal and non-CoCO, the conflicting requirements "work" as firmware configures the PCI hole (and other device memory) to be UC in the MTRRs. So even though the ACPI mappings request WB, they are forced to UC- in the kernel's tracking due to the kernel properly handling the MTRR overrides, and thus are compatible with the drivers' requested WC/UC-. With force WB MTRRs on SNP and TDX guests, the ACPI mappings get their requested WB if the ACPI mappings are established before the dedicated driver code attempts to initialize the device. E.g. if acpi_init() runs before the corresponding device driver is probed, ACPI's WB mapping will "win", and result in the driver's ioremap() failing because the existing WB mapping isn't compatible with the requested WC/UC-. E.g. when a TPM is emulated by the hypervisor (ignoring the security implications of relying on what is allegedly an untrusted entity to store measurements), the TPM driver will request UC and fail: [ 1.730459] ioremap error for 0xfed40000-0xfed45000, requested 0x2, got 0x0 [ 1.732780] tpm_tis MSFT0101:00: probe with driver tpm_tis failed with error -12 Note, the '0x2' and '0x0' values refer to "enum page_cache_mode", not x86's memtypes (which frustratingly are an almost pure inversion; 2 == WB, 0 == UC). E.g. tracing mapping requests for TPM TIS yields: Mapping TPM TIS with req_type = 0 WARNING: CPU: 22 PID: 1 at arch/x86/mm/pat/memtype.c:530 memtype_reserve+0x2ab/0x460 Modules linked in: CPU: 22 UID: 0 PID: 1 Comm: swapper/0 Tainted: G W 6.16.0-rc7+ #2 VOLUNTARY Tainted: [W]=WARN Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 05/29/2025 RIP: 0010:memtype_reserve+0x2ab/0x460 __ioremap_caller+0x16d/0x3d0 ioremap_cache+0x17/0x30 x86_acpi_os_ioremap+0xe/0x20 acpi_os_map_iomem+0x1f3/0x240 acpi_os_map_memory+0xe/0x20 acpi_ex_system_memory_space_handler+0x273/0x440 acpi_ev_address_space_dispatch+0x176/0x4c0 acpi_ex_access_region+0x2ad/0x530 acpi_ex_field_datum_io+0xa2/0x4f0 acpi_ex_extract_from_field+0x296/0x3e0 acpi_ex_read_data_from_field+0xd1/0x460 acpi_ex_resolve_node_to_value+0x2ee/0x530 acpi_ex_resolve_to_value+0x1f2/0x540 acpi_ds_evaluate_name_path+0x11b/0x190 acpi_ds_exec_end_op+0x456/0x960 acpi_ps_parse_loop+0x27a/0xa50 acpi_ps_parse_aml+0x226/0x600 acpi_ps_execute_method+0x172/0x3e0 acpi_ns_evaluate+0x175/0x5f0 acpi_evaluate_object+0x213/0x490 acpi_evaluate_integer+0x6d/0x140 acpi_bus_get_status+0x93/0x150 acpi_add_single_object+0x43a/0x7c0 acpi_bus_check_add+0x149/0x3a0 acpi_bus_check_add_1+0x16/0x30 acpi_ns_walk_namespace+0x22c/0x360 acpi_walk_namespace+0x15c/0x170 acpi_bus_scan+0x1dd/0x200 acpi_scan_init+0xe5/0x2b0 acpi_init+0x264/0x5b0 do_one_i ---truncated--- 19 Oct
CVE-2025-68332 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: comedi: c6xdigio: Fix invalid PNP driver unregistration The Comedi low-level driver "c6xdigio" seems to be for a parallel port connected device. When the Comedi core calls the driver's Comedi "attach" handler `c6xdigio_attach()` to configure a Comedi to use this driver, it tries to enable the parallel port PNP resources by registering a PNP driver with `pnp_register_driver()`, but ignores the return value. (The `struct pnp_driver` it uses has only the `name` and `id_table` members filled in.) The driver's Comedi "detach" handler `c6xdigio_detach()` unconditionally unregisters the PNP driver with `pnp_unregister_driver()`. It is possible for `c6xdigio_attach()` to return an error before it calls `pnp_register_driver()` and it is possible for the call to `pnp_register_driver()` to return an error (that is ignored). In both cases, the driver should not be calling `pnp_unregister_driver()` as it does in `c6xdigio_detach()`. (Note that `c6xdigio_detach()` will be called by the Comedi core if `c6xdigio_attach()` returns an error, or if the Comedi core decides to detach the Comedi device from the driver for some other reason.) The unconditional call to `pnp_unregister_driver()` without a previous successful call to `pnp_register_driver()` will cause `driver_unregister()` to issue a warning "Unexpected driver unregister!". This was detected by Syzbot [1]. Also, the PNP driver registration and unregistration should be done at module init and exit time, respectively, not when attaching or detaching Comedi devices to the driver. (There might be more than one Comedi device being attached to the driver, although that is unlikely.) Change the driver to do the PNP driver registration at module init time, and the unregistration at module exit time. Since `c6xdigio_detach()` now only calls `comedi_legacy_detach()`, remove the function and change the Comedi driver "detach" handler to `comedi_legacy_detach`. ------------------------------------------- [1] Syzbot sample crash report: Unexpected driver unregister! CVE-2025-68335 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: comedi: pcl818: fix null-ptr-deref in pcl818_ai_cancel() Syzbot identified an issue [1] in pcl818_ai_cancel(), which stems from the fact that in case of early device detach via pcl818_detach(), subdevice dev->read_subdev may not have initialized its pointer to &struct comedi_async as intended. Thus, any such dereferencing of &s->async->cmd will lead to general protection fault and kernel crash. Mitigate this problem by removing a call to pcl818_ai_cancel() from pcl818_detach() altogether. This way, if the subdevice setups its support for async commands, everything async-related will be handled via subdevice's own ->cancel() function in comedi_device_detach_locked() even before pcl818_detach(). If no support for asynchronous commands is provided, there is no need to cancel anything either. Case in point: for a single-byte symlink target, forkoff will be 8 but the buffer will only be 2 bytes long. In other words, the logic here is wrong and we walk off the end of the incore buffer. CVE-2026-98776 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: binderfs: fix UAF write in binder_add_device binderfs_binder_device_create() publishes the new dentry with d_make_persistent() and then calls simple_done_creating(), which drops the parent directory lock and the creator's dentry reference. It then calls binder_add_device() to register the device in the global binder_devices list. After simple_done_creating() releases the parent directory lock, a concurrent unlinkat() can remove the new device entry. Dropping the creator's dentry reference can then trigger binderfs_evict_inode(), freeing the device. binder_add_device() later accesses the freed object, causing UAF write. CVE-2026-98358 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: IB/iser: reject a remote invalidation of an unregistered direction A write command whose data is sent entirely as immediate data is not registered. iser_reg_mem_fastreg() takes the DMA key path and leaves rdma_reg[ISER_DIR_OUT].desc at NULL, while iser_dma_map_task_data() has already set dir[ISER_DIR_OUT]. iser_check_remote_inv() looks at dir[] alone and hands the descriptor to iser_inv_desc(), which reads desc->sig_protected. A target that answers such a command with IB_WR_SEND_WITH_INV faults the initiator. Leaving those commands unregistered is deliberate. The same function already terminates the connection when a target sends a remote invalidation the initiator did not ask for. A target that invalidates a direction that was never registered is in the same class, so give it the same answer. CVE-2026-98300 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: Don't call skb_clone_and_charge_r() for close()d listener in tcp_v6_do_rcv(). tcp_v6_do_rcv() no longer calls skb_clone_and_charge_r() for TCP_LISTEN since commit 073d89808c06 ("net: fix data-races around sk->sk_forward_alloc"). However, there is still a small race window between tcp_v6_rcv() and tcp_v6_do_rcv(), where concurrent close() changes TCP_LISTEN to TCP_CLOSE, causing skb_clone_and_charge_r() to be called locklessly and resulting in the splat below. [0] Let's avoid calling skb_clone_and_charge_r() for TCP_CLOSE as well. This is fine for non-listeners because tcp_rcv_state_process() drops skb for TCP_CLOSE and opt_skb was freed immediately anyway. CVE-2026-98106 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/pagemap: Prevent double migration of device pages A device-private folio migrated to system memory by a CPU fault can remain reachable through the raw-PFN eviction path until migration finalization drops the source reference. If eviction selects the same device-private folio during this window, it can attempt to migrate the folio again. The second migration can leave an uncharged folio on an LRU list, causing folio_lruvec_lock_irqsave() to retry indefinitely and resulting in a soft lockup and RCU stall. Mark successfully migrated device-private folios using a low bit of their zone_device_data before migration finalization. Make both CPU-fault and raw-PFN migration paths skip device-private folios carrying this flag. Mask the flag when retrieving the drm_pagemap_zdd pointer and preserve it when a device-private folio is split. Keeping the state on the physical folio also avoids depending on a virtual address that may change before a fault occurs. v2: - Replace the retired-PFN XArray with an embedded bitmap. (Matthew Brost) - Mark every base page covered by a migrated folio so retirement remains valid if the folio is later split. v3: - Store the migrated state in a low bit of zone_device_data instead of adding virtual-range and bitmap tracking to the ZDD. (Matthew Brost) - Mask the flag when retrieving the ZDD and preserve it when splitting a folio. - Drop the pre-existing fixes already covered by Matthew Brost's series: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/171651/ v4: - Advance by the folio size only for migration entries marked with MIGRATE_PFN_COMPOUND. (Sashiko) v5: - Simplify ZDD flag updates and folio iteration. (Matthew Brost) - Skip retired device-private folios in the CPU-fault path. (Matthew Brost) - Preserve flag bits while taking a new ZDD reference for split folios. v6: - Restore MIGRATE_PFN_COMPOUND-aware stepping so non-compound migration entries are processed one at a time. (Sashiko) - Drop the pre-existing fixes already covered by Matthew Brost's series: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/171651/ The lockup was observed as: [10109.860465] watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#9 stuck for 26s! Such can happen if text poking races with CPA, which can possibly result in the collapsing of page tables (or breaking of PMD hugepages). It is not a problem for most users of vmalloc_to_page() (they solely own the vmalloc'd range) but, when CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_EXECMEM_ROX=y, various modules own a single execmem vmalloc range, and can call set_memory_*() in parallel on it. This can happen to race against __text_poke and cause havoc in vmalloc_to_page(). Fix it by excluding against CPA using the init_mm mmap read lock. [ dhansen: Fix up SoB ordering. The actual code flow here was: Pedro=>Lorenzo=>Mike=>Me which is reflected in the SoB chain now. I *believe* Mike simply picked up Lorenzo's update to Pedro's post from the Link ] 19 Oct

If the new parameter, @clear_reading, is set, we will hold the spinlock at the beginning of free_extent_buffer_clear_reading() to make sure the EXTENT_BUFFER_READING flag is cleared inside the same critical section of decreasing refs. Now free_extent_buffer() will just call free_extent_buffer_clear_reading() with @clear_reading set to false, so no behavior change. But for end_bbio_meta_read(), it will not clear_extent_buffer_reading() directly, but pass @clear_reading as true. Then inside invalidate_and_check_btree_folios(), hold the refs_lock before reading refs. So that we eliminate the race window completely. 19 Oct

CVE-2026-90186 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: null_blk: reject per-device queue resize for shared tag set When shared_tags is enabled, null_setup_tagset() makes the device use the global tag_set, whose driver_data stays NULL. null_map_queues() therefore falls back to the module-wide g_submit_queues/g_poll_queues instead of any per-device value. Resizing submit_queues or poll_queues via configfs on such a device calls blk_mq_update_nr_hw_queues() on the shared set, shrinking set->nr_hw_queues. __blk_mq_realloc_hw_ctxs() only grows the q->queue_hw_ctx[] allocation, so on shrink it merely exits and NULLs the now-excess hctx slots. null_map_queues(), however, keeps mapping CPUs with the unchanged g_submit_queues/g_poll_queues, so mq_map[] ends up pointing at those NULLed hctx slots. blk_mq_map_swqueue() then dereferences the NULL hctx (hctx->cpumask), crashing the kernel: [ 460.218374] KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000098-0x000000000000009f] [ 460.219003] CPU: 24 UID: 0 PID: 1492 Comm: sh Not tainted 7.2.0-rc2+ #67 PREEMPT(full) [ 460.219792] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.17.0-4.fc41 04/01/2014 [ 460.220452] RIP: 0010:blk_mq_map_swqueue+0x4db/0x1430 ...... CVE-2026-90040 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: SEV: Forcefully invalidate SNP VMSA if its backing gmem page is zapped Wire up a gmem_invalidate_range() call for SNP VMs, and use it to force vCPUs to reload/recheck their guest-provided VMSA if the backing gmem page is being invalidated, e.g. is being PUNCH_HOLE'd. Use the same core logic to handle invalidations as VMX does for the APIC-access page, as the two concepts are nearly identical: shove the physical address of a page into the vCPU's control structure: 1. Snapshot the invalidation sequence counter 2. Grab the pfn (from guest_memfd in this case) 3. Acquire mmu_lock for read 4. Re-request reload if retry is needed, otherwise commit the change. Note, the re-request action in #4 is necessary as KVM's retry logic is fuzzy, i.e. can get false positives. If the guest_memfd page has been dropped, at some point a subsequent reload will fail to get a PFN from guest_memfd, and KVM will fail KVM_RUN. If the retry was due to a false positive, KVM will retry until there are no relevant MMU notifier events (and will retry in the "outer" loop, i.e. will drop locks and resched as needed). Note #2! Take care to invalidate the VMSA when a relevant memslot is DELETED or MOVED, as invalidations in response to PUNCH_HOLE are predicated on memslot bindings (KVM doesn't know what GFN range(s) to invalidate without a binding). And more importantly, the VMSA mapping requires a memslot, i.e. must be invalidated if its memslots disappears, regardless of the state of the underlying guest_memfd inode. Failure to invalidate the vCPU's control.vmsa_pa (which is checked by pre_sev_run()) can prevent KVM from properly freeing the page as firmware will reject the RMPUPDATE to reclaim the page with FAIL_INUSE if the vCPU is actively running, i.e. if VMSA page is in-use. That in turn leads to an RMP #PF on the next use, as the page will still be assigned to the SNP VM. CVE-2026-89578 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm-io: clone the source bio instead of copying its biovec For DM_IO_BIO requests, do_region() built each destination bio by walking the source bio's biovec and re-adding the pages one at a time, tracking the remaining transfer in sectors. The vector lengths are byte granular and need not be sector aligned (e.g. a misaligned O_DIRECT buffer split across pages), so the sector-based accounting could lose a sub-sector fragment: to_sector() truncated the remainder and the outer loop spun forever submitting empty bios, hanging the I/O. There is no need to rebuild the biovec at all. The destination reads into (or writes from) exactly the same pages as the source bio, so the bio can simply clone the source's biovec with bio_alloc_clone() and remap it to the target device. The clone inherits the source's iterator and alignment, and the block layer splits it to the target's limits on submission, so the whole region maps to a single cloned bio with no manual page copying or sector accounting. This removes the per-page copy path (and its open-coded bvec dpages helpers) for bio-backed I/O and fixes the hang on misaligned direct I/O to a dm-mirror device. Page-list, vma and kmem sources keep the existing copy path. 19 Oct

CVE-2026-80853 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: SEV: Allocate full pages for {DE,EN}CRYPT ops on SNP-enabled hosts When {de,en}crypting memory of an SEV or SEV-ES guest on an SNP-enabled host via a temporary buffer, allocate a full 4KiB page for the buffer to ensure the page containing the buffer is wholly owned by KVM, i.e. won't be concurrently allocated and accessed by other kernel code while KVM is using the buffer to {de,en}crypt memory. On SNP-enabled platforms, when sending SEV/SEV-ES commands that trigger firmware writes to memory, the to-be-written page(s) must be (temporarily) assigned to Firmware (as required by the SNP architecture, to guard against using such commands as gadgets to attack SNP guests). See snp_map_cmd_buf_desc() and friends. Unfortunately, transferring ownership of a page to Firmware makes the page inaccessible to software, and thus writes generate RMP #PF violations. If KVM uses a sub-page allocation for its temporary buffer, some other actor in the kernel can allocate and use the other portions of the page, and thus trigger unexpected (and seemingly spurious) RMP #PF violations due to software attempting to access a Firmware-owned page. CVE-2026-80817 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/iommufd: Fix NULL pointer deref in iommufd_ioas_change_process when racing with iopt_map_file_pages iommufd_ioas_change_process() iterates every IOAS area while only holding every IOAS iova_rwsem, so it assumes every area has a non-NULL pages pointer. That assumption can be false when it runs concurrently with iopt_map_file_pages(). iopt_map_pages() executes in two phases. It first creates the area and inserts it into the interval tree under iova_rwsem, with area->pages still NULL. It then drops iova_rwsem and later fills area->pages under domains_rwsem. This leaves a window between area creation and area->pages fill where a concurrent iommufd_ioas_change_process() can observe the area and dereference a NULL area->pages pointer, leading to a NULL pointer dereference: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 00000000000000c0 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 4b655067 P4D 4b655067 PUD 0 Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 11841 Comm: syz.1.628 Not tainted 7.1.0 #3 PREEMPT(full) Hardware name: QEMU Ubuntu 24.04 PC v2 (i440FX + PIIX, arch_caps fix, 1996), BIOS 1.16.3-debian-1.16.3-2 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:iommufd_ioas_change_process+0x419/0xd50 drivers/iommu/iommufd/ioas.c:538 Code: 48 89 c3 48 85 c0 0f 84 cc 00 00 00 e8 10 f5 cb fd 48 8d 7b 68 e8 a7 b5 eb fd 48 8b 6b 68 48 8d bd c0 00 00 00 e8 17 b2 eb fd <8b> ad c0 00 00 00 bf 01 00 00 00 89 ee e8 85 ef cb fd 83 fd 01 74 RSP: 0018:ffffc90015c17d28 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8880186d5328 RBX: ffff88801d25e240 RCX: 0000000080000000 RDX: 00000000000002d7 RSI: ffffffff83ba9e10 RDI: 00000000000000c0 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: ffffffff8e781eb8 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 00000000000000c0 R11: ffffffff83ba9e29 R12: ffff88802e216008 R13: ffff88802e216000 R14: 0000000000000001 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007f4aea3f66c0(0000) GS:ffff8880b1fa1000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 00000000000000c0 CR3: 000000004b75c000 CR4: 0000000000350ef0 Call Trace: <TASK> iommufd_fops_ioctl+0x287/0x400 drivers/iommu/iommufd/main.c:533 vfs_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:51 [inline] __do_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:597 [inline] __se_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:583 [inline] __x64_sys_ioctl+0x120/0x170 fs/ioctl.c:583 x64_sys_call+0x1092/0x1fb0 arch/x86/include/generated/asm/syscalls_64.h:17 do_syscall_x64 arch/x86/entry/syscall_64.c:63 [inline] do_syscall_64+0x10a/0x680 arch/x86/entry/syscall_64.c:94 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f RIP: 0033:0x7f4aec1a82bd Code: ff c3 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 90 f3 0f 1e fa 48 89 f8 48 89 f7 48 89 d6 48 89 ca 4d 89 c2 4d 89 c8 4c 8b 4c 24 08 0f 05 <48> 3d 01 f0 ff ff 73 01 c3 48 c7 c1 b0 ff ff ff f7 d8 64 89 01 48 RSP: 002b:00007f4aea3f6018 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000010 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 00007f4aec436090 RCX: 00007f4aec1a82bd RDX: 0000200000000180 RSI: 0000000000003b92 RDI: 0000000000000003 RBP: 00007f4aec250295 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: 00007f4aec436128 R14: 00007f4aec436090 R15: 00007ffd04ef23e0 </TASK> Modules linked in: CR2: 00000000000000c0 ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- RIP: 0010:iommufd_ioas_change_process+0x419/0xd50 drivers/iommu/iommufd/ioas.c:538 Code: 48 89 c3 48 85 c0 0f 84 cc 00 00 00 e8 10 f5 cb fd 48 8d 7b 68 e8 a7 b5 eb fd 48 8b 6b 68 48 8d bd c0 00 00 00 e8 17 b2 eb fd <8b> ad c0 00 00 00 bf 01 00 00 00 89 ee e8 85 ef cb fd 83 fd 01 74 RSP: 0018:ffffc90015c17d28 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8880186d5328 RBX: ffff88801d25e240 RCX: 0000000080000000 RDX: 00000000000002d7 RSI: ffffffff83ba9e10 RDI: 00000000000000c0 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: ffffffff8e781eb8 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 00000000000000c0 R11: ffffffff83ba9e29 R12: ffff88802e216008 R13: ffff88802e216000 R14: 0000000000000001 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007f4aea3f66c0(000 ---truncated--- 19 Oct

File I/O does not trigger this problem because for filesystems that do not support the FS_LBS feature, sb_set_blocksize() prevents sb->s_blocksize_bits from being larger than PAGE_SHIFT. During inode allocation, alloc_inode()->inode_init_always() assigns inode->i_blkbits from sb->s_blocksize_bits. Currently, only xfs_fs_type has the FS_LBS flag, and since xfs I/O paths do not reach submit_bh_wbc(), it does not hit the left-shift underflow issue. CVE-2025-68199 unscored 0.00% no CPE yet In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: codetag: debug: handle existing CODETAG_EMPTY in mark_objexts_empty for slabobj_ext When alloc_slab_obj_exts() fails and then later succeeds in allocating a slab extension vector, it calls handle_failed_objexts_alloc() to mark all objects in the vector as empty. As a result all objects in this slab (slabA) will have their extensions set to CODETAG_EMPTY. Later on if this slabA is used to allocate a slabobj_ext vector for another slab (slabB), we end up with the slabB->obj_exts pointing to a slabobj_ext vector that itself has a non-NULL slabobj_ext equal to CODETAG_EMPTY. When slabB gets freed, free_slab_obj_exts() is called to free slabB->obj_exts vector. free_slab_obj_exts() calls mark_objexts_empty(slabB->obj_exts) which will generate a warning because it expects slabobj_ext vectors to have a NULL obj_ext, not CODETAG_EMPTY. Modify mark_objexts_empty() to skip the warning and setting the obj_ext value if it's already set to CODETAG_EMPTY. To quickly detect this WARN, I modified the code from WARN_ON(slab_exts[offs].ref.ct) to BUG_ON(slab_exts[offs].ref.ct == 1); We then obtained this message: [21630.898561] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [21630.898596] kernel BUG at mm/slub.c:2050! We could give up on HIGHMEM here, but it's straightforward to fix this with a loop that's mapping, poisoning or checking and unmapping individual pages. 14 Oct
