CVE-2025-58360KEVexploit ×7 9.8 critical 61.0% geoserver GeoServer is an open source server that allows users to share and edit geospatial data. From version 2.26.0 to before 2.26.2 and before 2.25.6, an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability was identified. The application accepts XML input through a specific endpoint /geoserver/wms operation GetMap. However, this input is not sufficiently sanitized or restricted, allowing an attacker to define external entities within the XML request. This issue has been patched in GeoServer 2.25.6, GeoServer 2.26.3, and GeoServer 2.27.0. 18 Oct
CVE-2026-9586KEVexploit ×2 9.3 critical 19.0% sangoma, switchvox An unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability exists in Sangoma Switchvox SMB Edition 8.3 (104997). The /pa endpoint processes XML content beginning with <PolycomIPPhone> and directly concatenates the user-controlled PhoneIP value into PostgreSQL queries without sanitization or parameterization. An unauthenticated remote attacker can execute arbitrary SQL statements against the backend PostgreSQL database using a single crafted request, including database operations and remote code execution. 24 Oct
CVE-2013-7285exploit ×2 9.8 critical 84.0% oracle, apache, endeca_information_discovery_studio, activemq, xstream Xstream API versions up to 1.4.6 and version 1.4.10, if the security framework has not been initialized, may allow a remote attacker to run arbitrary shell commands by manipulating the processed input stream when unmarshaling XML or any supported format. e.g. JSON. 8 Oct
CVE-2022-23852exploit 9.8 critical 5.0% libexpat_project, netapp, libexpat, clustered_data_ontap, oncommand_workflow_automation Expat (aka libexpat) before 2.4.4 has a signed integer overflow in XML_GetBuffer, for configurations with a nonzero XML_CONTEXT_BYTES. 14 Oct
CVE-2026-40487exploit 9.0 critical 0.00% gitroom, postiz Postiz is an AI social media scheduling tool. Prior to version 2.21.6, a file upload validation bypass allows any authenticated user to upload arbitrary HTML, SVG, or other executable file types to the server by spoofing the `Content-Type` header. The uploaded files are then served by nginx with a Content-Type derived from their original extension (`text/html`, `image/svg+xml`), enabling Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in the context of the application's origin. This can lead to session riding, account takeover, and full compromise of other users' accounts. Version 2.21.6 contains a fix. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2016-4658 9.8 critical 9.0% apple, xmlsoft, iphone_os, mac_os_x, tvos xpointer.c in libxml2 before 2.9.5 (as used in Apple iOS before 10, OS X before 10.12, tvOS before 10, and watchOS before 3, and other products) does not forbid namespace nodes in XPointer ranges, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (use-after-free and memory corruption) via a crafted XML document. 14 Oct
CVE-2018-14720 9.8 critical 8.0% fasterxml, debian, jackson-databind, debian_linux, banking_platform FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.7 might allow attackers to conduct external XML entity (XXE) attacks by leveraging failure to block unspecified JDK classes from polymorphic deserialization. 15 Oct
CVE-2016-9063 9.8 critical 5.0% mozilla, debian, firefox, debian_linux, python An integer overflow during the parsing of XML using the Expat library. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 50. 8 Oct
CVE-2017-7375 9.8 critical 3.0% xmlsoft, debian, libxml2, debian_linux, android A flaw in libxml2 allows remote XML entity inclusion with default parser flags (i.e., when the caller did not request entity substitution, DTD validation, external DTD subset loading, or default DTD attributes). Depending on the context, this may expose a higher-risk attack surface in libxml2 not usually reachable with default parser flags, and expose content from local files, HTTP, or FTP servers (which might be otherwise unreachable). 14 Oct
CVE-2025-49796 9.1 critical 2.0% no CPE yet A vulnerability was found in libxml2. Processing certain sch:name elements from the input XML file can trigger a memory corruption issue. This flaw allows an attacker to craft a malicious XML input file that can lead libxml to crash, resulting in a denial of service or other possible undefined behavior due to sensitive data being corrupted in memory. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-44179 9.9 critical 1.0% no CPE yet XWiki Remote Macros provides XWiki rendering macros that are useful when migrating content from Confluence. From 1.13 until 1.14.5, the `excerpt-include` macro does not properly escape the included page's title and executes `excerpt` content with the macro's rights. The title handling in `xwiki-pro-macros-ui/src/main/resources/Confluence/Macros/ExcerptInclude.xml` and the rendering of `excerpt` content into XWiki syntax both allow syntax injection. Any user able to edit a page, even without script or programming rights, can supply executable macro syntax in the title or `excerpt` and cause remote code execution when the page is included. This affects confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole XWiki installation. This issue is fixed in version 1.14.5. Wed 28 Oct
CVE-2026-48614 9.9 critical 1.0% no CPE yet An improper authorization vulnerability in the Plesk XML API allows an authenticated user to inject arbitrary configuration directives, resulting in arbitrary file write as root and full privilege escalation on the underlying server. 25 Oct
CVE-2026-56843 9.9 critical 1.0% no CPE yet Incorrect authorization in the XML-RPC API of WebPros Plesk before 18.0.78.4 allows a low-privileged authenticated customer to look up domains they do not own, because ownership is enforced only for certain lookup filters and schema validation is bypassed for legacy protocol versions. This results in cross-tenant disclosure of other tenants' FTP credentials stored in cleartext, which can be leveraged to execute code as another tenant's system user. 25 Oct
CVE-2026-58046 9.9 critical 1.0% no CPE yet Improper neutralization in the Plesk XML-RPC API allows a remote authenticated low-privileged user to perform SQL injection and read arbitrary data from the Plesk database, leading to full compromise of the panel. 23 Oct
CVE-2026-110879 9.8 critical 1.0% no CPE yet jackson-databind validates the outer class of a class-name type ID but accepts attacker-selected classes inside its generic arguments, even when those classes violate the declared type or would be rejected as direct type IDs. This bypasses the generic-argument validation added for CVE-2026-54512 (GHSA-j3rv-43j4-c7qm), of which this is an incomplete fix. DatabindContext._resolveAndValidateGeneric() checks the outer class against the declared base type and then passes each argument from the type ID to _validateTypeParameter(), which validates the argument against the outer base type rather than enforcing its corresponding declared generic binding. It also invokes validators with arguments that have not passed the subtype check those validators expect. Under the default DefaultBaseTypeLimitingValidator this accepts an unrelated class inside a generic subtype even when the same class is rejected as a direct type ID. Where an allowIfBaseType(...) rule approves the outer type, Jackson substitutes LaissezFaireSubTypeValidator, so the configured validator no longer restricts the embedded arguments. The element type of a plain array type ID such as [Lpkg.Gadget; is likewise left unvalidated once the array's base type is approved. Affected paths include annotation-based class-name polymorphism with a default Jackson 3.x JsonMapper, configured default typing in both Jackson 2.x and 3.x, and integrations that expose that default typing. The default-validator case requires no application-authored validator: with @JsonTypeInfo(use = Id.CLASS), a direct gadget type ID is rejected as "Not a subtype", while a type ID naming a generic wrapper around the same gadget is accepted and deserialized, including attacker-supplied bean properties. Where class-name default typing permits Map, a property declared as Map<String,String> accepts HashMap<FileSystemXmlApplicationContext,String>; map-key discovery then passes the attacker-controlled JSON property name to the selected class's one-string constructor. With Spring on the classpath and attacker-controlled XML the application can load, that constructor loads the XML and invokes ProcessBuilder.start() under the application account, giving arbitrary command execution. This issue affects com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-databind from 2.10.0 and tools.jackson.core:jackson-databind from 3.0.0. Releases before 2.10.0 are not affected, because PolymorphicTypeValidator was introduced in jackson-databind 2.10.0. Wed 28 Oct
CVE-2026-10025 9.8 critical 1.0% ibm, qradar_security_information_and_event_manager IBM QRadar 7.6.0.0 through 7.6.0.1, and 7.5.0 through 7.5.0 UP 15 Interim Fix 005 has an XML External Entity (XXE) injection vulnerability. The vulnerability resides in the parseXmlPayload() function within the event processing pipeline ( q1labs_core.jar ). When at least one log source type is configured to use XML-format property autodetection, the system processes XML-formatted syslog events sent to port 514 (UDP/TCP) without authentication. 23 Oct
CVE-2026-16770 9.8 critical 1.0% no CPE yet PDF::WebKit versions through 1.2 for Perl allow argument injection into wkhtmltopdf via meta tags in the source document. For an HTML string or file source, the constructor collects every <meta name="pdf-webkit-KEY" content="VALUE"> element in the document head through _pdf_webkit_meta_tags and turns each one into a wkhtmltopdf command line option. KEY is normalized to an option name matching --[a-z0-9-]+ but is not checked against an allow list, VALUE is passed through unchanged as the argument that follows it, and a VALUE of "yes" emits the option as a bare flag. BUILD merges the meta derived options last, so they also override the module defaults and the options passed to new. Switches such as --enable-local-file-access and --cookie-jar are reachable this way. The renderer is executed with an argument list rather than a shell command, so this is argument injection and not shell injection. Any caller that renders untrusted HTML lets the document choose the renderer's options and override those set by the application, including options that read local files into the resulting PDF or write to a chosen path. A URL source is not scanned, and the scan is skipped when XML::LibXML, a recommended dependency, is not installed. 23 Oct
CVE-2026-83935 9.8 critical 1.0% microsoft, windows_10_1607, windows_10_1809, windows_10_21h2 Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft XML allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. 19 Oct
CVE-2025-47151 9.8 critical 1.0% entrouvert, lasso A type confusion vulnerability exists in the lasso_node_impl_init_from_xml functionality of Entr&#39;ouvert Lasso 2.5.1 and 2.8.2. A specially crafted SAML response can lead to an arbitrary code execution. An attacker can send a malformed SAML response to trigger this vulnerability. 18 Oct
CVE-2026-90531 9.6 critical 1.0% no CPE yet Adobe Experience Manager is affected by an Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference ('XXE') vulnerability that could result in privilege escalation. A low-privileged attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain elevated access to internal resources. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. Scope is changed. 14 Oct
CVE-2026-44791 9.4 critical 1.0% n8n n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to 1.123.43, 2.22.1, and 2.20.7, an authenticated user with permission to create or modify workflows could bypass the patch for CVE-2026-42232 in the XML node. When combined with other nodes, this could lead to RCE on the n8n host. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.123.43, 2.22.1, and 2.20.7. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-57580 9.4 critical 1.0% no CPE yet authentik is an open-source identity provider. Prior to 2026.2.6 and 2026.5.5, an inbound SAML Source configured with the non-default USERNAME_LINK or EMAIL_LINK user-matching mode interprets an XML comment in a NameID differently from the identity provider's signed assertion. An attacker with an account on the source identity provider who can set the account's NameID can inject an XML comment that truncates the value used by authentik to the text before the comment while the signed assertion remains valid. A crafted NameID can therefore truncate to a victim's username or email and bind the attacker's external identity to the victim's existing account. This grants full takeover without the victim's password or the identity provider's private key, and the malicious link persists so later logins succeed without the comment. Sources using the default unique-identifier matching mode and authentik's outbound SAML Provider role are not affected. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.2.6 and 2026.5.5. 22 Oct
CVE-2026-15143 9.3 critical 1.0% no CPE yet A flaw was found in the file_type content detector of guardrails-detectors. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to supply an arbitrary XML Schema Definition (XSD) string, which is processed without proper restrictions. This can lead to server-side requests to arbitrary URLs or local file reads, potentially resulting in sensitive information disclosure, such as cloud provider credentials or access to internal network services. 25 Oct
CVE-2026-15378 9.3 critical 1.0% no CPE yet A flaw was found in the `guardrails-detectors` component. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a blind Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) by submitting a specially crafted XML Schema Definition (XSD) string. This can lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information, including credentials from cloud metadata services, Kubernetes API, internal MinIO, and other internal network endpoints. Additionally, it enables local file reads of critical data such as service account tokens and pod secrets. 25 Oct
CVE-2026-114403 9.2 critical 1.0% no CPE yet PHPOffice PHPPresentation through 1.2.0 contains an insecure deserialization vulnerability that allows attackers to instantiate arbitrary PHP objects by supplying a crafted presentation file. Attackers can upload a ZIP containing PhpPresentation.xml that IOFactory::load passes to unserialize(), enabling gadget-chain code execution, file writes, or denial of service. Wed 28 Oct
CVE-2026-55276 9.1 critical 1.0% apache, tomcat Always-Incorrect Control Flow Implementation vulnerability in Apache Tomcat meant that special roles and empty authorisation constraints were not included when the effective web.xml was logged. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.22, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.55, from 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.118, from 8.5.0 through 8.5.100. Other versions that have reached end of support may also be affected. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.23, 10.1.56 or 9.0.119 which fixes the issue. 25 Oct
CVE-2026-57074 9.1 critical 1.0% no CPE yet XML::Bare versions through 0.53 for Perl have an unbounded character lookahead. The parserc_parse function attempts to check for multicharacter strings such as "<![CDATA" or element terminators such as ">" without checking that the offsets are within the buffer. Truncated strings such as "<a/" can trigger an out-of-bounds read. 24 Oct
CVE-2026-9390 9.1 critical 1.0% xml\, \ XML::Sig versions before 0.71 for Perl allow XPath injection in ID lookup. verify() and _get_signed_xml() in lib/XML/Sig.pm build XPath expressions by concatenating the SignedInfo/Reference/@URI value read from the document being verified. The value is neither escaped nor checked against the NCName grammar that XML requires of an ID, so a URI containing a single quote closes the string literal in the generated expression and appends arbitrary XPath operators. A crafted URI can make the lookup match elements the reference does not name, or every element in the document, so which node is selected for digest verification is decided by the injected expression rather than by the reference. 23 Oct
CVE-2025-12531 9.1 critical 1.0% ibm, infosphere_information_server IBM InfoSphere Information Server 11.7.0.0 through 11.7.1.6 is vulnerable to an XML external entity injection (XXE) attack when processing XML data. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to expose sensitive information or consume memory resources. 18 Oct
CVE-2026-58016 9.1 critical 1.0% gnome, redhat, glib, enterprise_linux A flaw was found in GLib. A state confusion issue exists in g_dbus_node_info_new_for_xml() in the gio/gdbusintrospection.c file when processing malformed D-Bus introspection XML, specifically with a `node` element nested within other elements like `method`, `signal`, `property` or `arg`. This issue can cause an unsigned integer overflow and lead to an out-of-bounds read, resulting in a denial of service. 14 Oct
CVE-2025-49794 9.1 critical 1.0% no CPE yet A use-after-free vulnerability was found in libxml2. This issue occurs when parsing XPath elements under certain circumstances when the XML schematron has the <sch:name path="..."/> schema elements. This flaw allows a malicious actor to craft a malicious XML document used as input for libxml, resulting in the program's crash using libxml or other possible undefined behaviors. 12 Oct
CVE-2026-28573 10.0 critical 0.00% google, android In AndroidManifest.xml, there is a possible persistent denial of service due to a missing permission check. This could lead to local denial of service with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-42858 9.9 critical 0.00% openedx Open edX Platform enables the authoring and delivery of online learning at any scale. The sync_provider_data endpoint in SAMLProviderDataViewSet allows authenticated Enterprise Admin users to supply an arbitrary URL via the metadata_url POST parameter. This URL is passed directly to requests.get() in fetch_metadata_xml() without any URL validation, IP filtering, or scheme enforcement. An attacker with Enterprise Admin privileges can force the server to make HTTP requests to internal network services, cloud metadata endpoints (e.g., AWS 169.254.169.254), or other attacker-controlled destinations. This vulnerability is fixed by commit 6fda1f120ff5a590d120ae1180185525f399c6d0 and 70a56246dd9c9df57c596e64bdd8a11b1d9da054. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-64637 9.9 critical 0.00% no CPE yet Improper privilege management in the XML-RPC API of Plesk before 18.0.80, allows an authenticated reseller to obtain an administrative session for the root user account. 24 Oct
CVE-2026-18108 9.8 critical 0.00% timlegge, net\ Net::SAML2 versions before 0.86 for Perl allow authentication bypass because _verify_encrypted_assertion accepts an EncryptedAssertion whose decrypted content carries no signature. _verify_encrypted_assertion decrypts the EncryptedAssertion and returns it as verified when it carries no signature, via "return $xml unless $xpath->exists('dsig:Signature', $assert);". The signature check and the trust anchor check that follow run only when a signature is present, so a decrypted assertion with no dsig:Signature element reaches new_from_xml unverified and its NameID and attributes are read into the assertion object. An SP's encryption certificate is published in its SAML metadata so the IdP can encrypt to it, so any party can encrypt an unsigned assertion to that certificate, wrap it in a samlp:Response, and post it to the assertion consumer service. Any caller that configures a decryption key_file, and so accepts EncryptedAssertions, takes identity fields from an assertion that no trust anchor covers, and an unauthenticated party can authenticate as an arbitrary user. Callers with no key_file configured do not decrypt and are unaffected. 23 Oct
CVE-2026-40042 9.3 critical 0.00% no CPE yet Pachno 1.0.6 contains an XML external entity injection vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to read arbitrary files by exploiting unsafe XML parsing in the TextParser helper. Attackers can inject malicious XML entities through wiki table syntax and inline tags in issue descriptions, comments, and wiki articles to trigger entity resolution via simplexml_load_string() without LIBXML_NONET restrictions. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-42155 9.3 critical 0.00% no CPE yet Magento Long Term Support (LTS) is an unofficial, community-driven project provides an alternative to the Magento Community Edition e-commerce platform with a high level of backward compatibility. Prior to 20.18.0, the XML-RPC / SOAP API session ID is generated using an outdated, time-based construction rather than a Cryptographically Secure Pseudo-Random Number Generator (CSPRNG). All inputs to the MD5 hash are time-derived and non-secure. Because the resulting digest relies entirely on the timestamp and the PHP internal LCG state, the effective entropy is severely constrained. This violates the OWASP ASVS v4 requirement of ≥ 64 bits of entropy (V3.2.2) and NIST SP 800-63B standards. By narrowing the LCG window (via server state leaks or general predictability) and leveraging the lack of API rate-limiting, an attacker can generate a localized pool of candidate MD5 hashes and execute a high-speed online brute-force attack to hijack active API sessions. This vulnerability is fixed in 20.18.0. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-66394 9.3 critical 0.00% no CPE yet SiYuan before v3.7.3 contains stored and reflected cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in SVG sanitization that allows authenticated attackers to execute scripts by bypassing the HTML parser-based cleaner. Attackers can hide script tags within desc, style, or noscript elements which the HTML parser treats as raw text but browsers interpret as executable SVG content when served as image/svg+xml, enabling script execution in the application origin. 24 Oct
CVE-2026-16626 9.3 critical 0.00% no CPE yet Improper restriction of XML external entity reference vulnerability (unauthenticated) in Jaspersoft JasperReports Server. This issue affects JasperReports Server: from 9.0.0 before HF-9 and from 10.0.0 before HF-10. 23 Oct
CVE-2025-40934 9.3 critical 0.00% xml\, \ XML-Sig versions 0.27 through 0.67 for Perl incorrectly validates XML files if signatures are omitted. An attacker can remove the signature from the XML document to make it pass the verification check. XML-Sig is a Perl module to validate signatures on XML files. An unsigned XML file should return an error message. The affected versions return true when attempting to validate an XML file that contains no signatures. 18 Oct
CVE-2023-7325 9.3 critical 0.00% no CPE yet Anheng Mingyu Operation and Maintenance Audit and Risk Control System up to 2023-08-10 contains a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the xmlrpc.sock handler. The product accepts specially crafted XML-RPC requests that can be used to instruct the server to connect to internal unix socket RPC endpoints and perform privileged XML-RPC methods. An attacker able to send such requests can invoke administrative RPC methods via the unix socket interface to create arbitrary user accounts on the system, resulting in account creation and potential takeover of the bastion host. VulnCheck has observed this vulnerability being exploited in the wild as of 2025-10-30 at 00:30:17.837319 UTC. 18 Oct
CVE-2025-66567 9.3 critical 0.00% onelogin, ruby-saml The ruby-saml library is for implementing the client side of a SAML authorization. ruby-saml versions up to and including 1.12.4 contain an authentication bypass vulnerability due to an incomplete fix for CVE-2025-25292. ReXML and Nokogiri parse XML differently, generating entirely different document structures from the same input. This allows an attacker to execute a Signature Wrapping attack. This issue is fixed in version 1.18.0. 14 Oct
CVE-2025-66568 9.3 critical 0.00% onelogin, ruby-saml The ruby-saml library implements the client side of an SAML authorization. Versions up to and including 1.12.4, are vulnerable to authentication bypass through the libxml2 canonicalization process used by Nokogiri for document transformation, which allows an attacker to execute a Signature Wrapping attack. When libxml2’s canonicalization is invoked on an invalid XML input, it may return an empty string rather than a canonicalized node. ruby-saml then proceeds to compute the DigestValue over this empty string, treating it as if canonicalization succeeded. This issue is fixed in version 1.18.0. 14 Oct
CVE-2026-102037 9.2 critical 0.00% no CPE yet An XML Injection vulnerability in the Unified Threat Management daemon (utmd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series devices allows an unauthenticated network attacker to commit arbitrary device configuration with root privileges via a malicious response from a configured custom URL-feed server. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-40682 9.1 critical 0.00% apache, opennlp XML External Entity (XXE) via Unsanitized Dictionary Parsing in Apache OpenNLP DictionaryEntryPersistor Versions Affected: before 2.5.9, before 3.0.0-M3 Description: The DictionaryEntryPersistor class initializes a static SAXParserFactory at class-load time without enabling FEATURE_SECURE_PROCESSING or disabling DTD processing. When create(InputStream, EntryInserter) is invoked, the only feature set on the XMLReader is namespace support — external entity resolution and DOCTYPE declarations remain fully enabled. An attacker who can supply a crafted dictionary file (e.g., a stop-word list or domain dictionary) containing a malicious DOCTYPE declaration can trigger local file disclosure via file:// entity references or server-side request forgery via http:// entity references during SAX parsing, before the application processes a single dictionary entry. This is inconsistent with the project's own XmlUtil.createSaxParser() helper, which correctly sets FEATURE_SECURE_PROCESSING and disallow-doctype-decl and is used by all other XML parsing paths in the codebase. The public Dictionary(InputStream) constructor delegates directly to this method and is the documented API for loading user-supplied dictionaries, making untrusted input a realistic scenario. Mitigation: 2.x users should upgrade to 2.5.9. 3.x users should upgrade to 3.0.0-M3. Users who cannot upgrade immediately should ensure that all dictionary files are sourced from trusted origins and should consider wrapping the Dictionary(InputStream) constructor with input validation that rejects any XML containing a DOCTYPE declaration before it reaches the parser. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-13449 9.1 critical 0.00% ibm, business_automation_manager IBM Business Automation Manager Open Editions 9.0.0 through 9.4.2 is vulnerable to an XML external entity injection (XXE) attack when processing XML data. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to expose sensitive information or consume memory resources. 25 Oct
CVE-2026-32327 9.1 critical 0.00% apache, apr-util A bug in APR-util version 1.6.3 (and earlier) allows a stack recursion attack against any library consumer which parses XML from untrusted sources and uses the apr_xml_quote_elem() function. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 1.6.4, which fixes this issue. 24 Oct
CVE-2026-9487 9.1 critical 0.00% xml\, \ XML::Sig versions before 0.71 for Perl allow signature wrapping via duplicate ID. _get_signed_xml() in lib/XML/Sig.pm, called from verify(), resolves the SignedInfo Reference/@URI to a node with the XPath expression "//*[@ID='$id']" and returns the first node of the resulting node set. A document in which two elements share that ID value is accepted: the digest and signature are checked against whichever element comes first in document order, and the duplicate is not detected. Such a document verifies successfully while an application that resolves the same ID independently can read the second, attacker supplied element; in a SAML2 context this places the contents of an Assertion under attacker control. 23 Oct
