CVE-2026-42854 9.8 critical 1.0% espressif, arduino-esp32 arduino-esp32 is an Arduino core for the ESP32, ESP32-S2, ESP32-S3, ESP32-C3, ESP32-C6 and ESP32-H2 microcontrollers. Prior to 3.3.8, the WebServer multipart form parser in arduino-esp32 allocates a Variable Length Array (VLA) on the stack whose size is derived from an attacker-controlled HTTP header field (Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary=...) without enforcing any length limit. Sending a boundary string longer than ~8000 characters overflows the 8192-byte task stack of the loopTask, causing a crash and potential remote code execution. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.3.8. CVE-2026-55687 7.5 high 1.0% no CPE yet ESF-IDF is the Espressif Internet of Things (IOT) Development Framework. Versions 6.0.1, 5.5.4, 5.4.4, 5.3.5, and possibly prior contain an out-of-bounds write in jpeg_parse_dqt_marker() in components/esp_driver_jpeg/jpeg_parse_marker.c because the attacker-controlled DQT marker Tq nibble is used as an index into the qt_tbl array without validating that it is in the range 0..3, allowing malformed JPEG input to corrupt stack memory and reliably trigger a denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 6.0.2 and is expected to be fixed in versions 5.5.5, 5.4.5, and 5.3.6. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2025-66409 2.7 low 1.0% espressif, esp-idf ESF-IDF is the Espressif Internet of Things (IOT) Development Framework. In 5.5.1, 5.4.3, 5.3.4, 5.2.6, 5.1.6, and earlier, when AVRCP is enabled on ESP32, receiving a malformed VENDOR DEPENDENT command from a peer device can cause the Bluetooth stack to access memory before validating the command buffer length. This may lead to an out-of-bounds read, potentially exposing unintended memory content or causing unexpected behavior. 18 Oct
CVE-2026-41429 8.8 high 0.00% espressif, arduino-esp32 arduino-esp32 is an Arduino core for the ESP32, ESP32-S2, ESP32-S3, ESP32-C3, ESP32-C6 and ESP32-H2 microcontrollers. Prior to 3.3.8, there is a remotely reachable memory corruption issue in the NBNS packet handling path. When NetBIOS is enabled by calling NBNS.begin(...), the device listens on UDP port 137 and processes untrusted NBNS requests from the local network. The request parser trusts the attacker-controlled name_len field without enforcing a bound consistent with the fixed-size destination buffers used later in the flow. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.3.8. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-44358 8.2 high 0.00% no CPE yet Espressif Shared GitHub DangerJS is a reusable GitHub Action CI DangerJS workflow for Espressif GitHub projects. Prior to 1.0.1, the action's entrypoint.sh invoked DangerJS from the caller's workspace after copying the fork's checkout into it, creating an untrusted search path for both binary resolution and Node.js module resolution. A fork pull request processed by a pull_request_target workflow could therefore cause fork-supplied code to execute inside the action container in place of the action's own code. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.0.1. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-42855 7.5 high 0.00% espressif, arduino-esp32 arduino-esp32 is an Arduino core for the ESP32, ESP32-S2, ESP32-S3, ESP32-C3, ESP32-C6 and ESP32-H2 microcontrollers. Prior to 3.3.8, the WebServer Digest authentication implementation in arduino-esp32 computes the authentication hash using the URI field from the client's Authorization header, without verifying that it matches the actual requested URI. This allows an attacker who possesses any valid digest response (computed for URI-A) to authenticate requests to a completely different protected URI (URI-B), bypassing per-resource access control. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.3.8. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2025-65092 6.9 medium 0.00% no CPE yet ESF-IDF is the Espressif Internet of Things (IOT) Development Framework. In versions 5.5.1, 5.4.3, and 5.3.4, when the ESP32-P4 uses its hardware JPEG decoder, the software parser lacks necessary validation checks. A specially crafted (malicious) JPEG image could exploit the parsing routine and trigger an out-of-bounds array access. This issue has been fixed in versions 5.5.2, 5.4.4, and 5.3.5. At time of publication versions 5.5.2, 5.4.4, and 5.3.5 have not been released but are fixed respectively in commits 4b8f585, c79cb4d, and 34e2726. 18 Oct
CVE-2026-81507 6.5 medium 0.00% no CPE yet ESF-IDF is the Espressif Internet of Things (IOT) Development Framework. Prior to 5.2.8, 5.3.6, 5.5.5, 6.0.3, and 6.1-rc1, ESP-IDF BlueDroid L2CAP configuration-option processing in l2c_main.c and l2c_utils.c does not consistently validate option lengths against the remaining received packet bytes. A remote unauthenticated BR/EDR peer within radio range can send a malformed L2CAP configuration request that causes an out-of-bounds read, and under some runtime conditions limited adjacent Bluetooth stack memory can be included in an outbound L2CAP Configuration Response. The issue affects ESP32-class products using the BlueDroid host stack with Classic Bluetooth enabled. This issue is fixed in 5.2.8, 5.3.6, 5.5.5, 6.0.3, and 6.1-rc1. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-19737 5.5 medium 0.00% no CPE yet i2s_esp32_trigger_check() in drivers/i2s/i2s_esp32.c validates the requested direction only for I2S_DIR_BOTH. The I2S_DIR_RX and I2S_DIR_TX branches read dev_cfg->rx.data->configured / dev_cfg->tx.data->configured without first checking the stream pointers. The device instantiation macro I2S_ESP32_STREAM_INIT() sets both .conf and .data to NULL for a direction the devicetree does not describe, so on an instance that wires only one direction — the normal shape for audio output or a worldsemi,ws2812-i2s LED strip — the other direction dereferences a NULL pointer instead of returning an error. i2s_trigger() is a Zephyr syscall, and z_vrfy_i2s_trigger() in drivers/i2s/i2s_handlers.c validates only the device object and the presence of the trigger API pointer; the dir argument is passed to the driver unvalidated. On a build with CONFIG_USERSPACE enabled, a user-mode thread that has been granted the I2S device can issue a single i2s_trigger() call naming the unwired direction and cause a load from address 0 in kernel mode. Among the Espressif parts that carry this driver, userspace is available in-tree only on RISC-V SoCs with CONFIG_RISCV_PMP, and v4.4.0 is the first release where that is buildable: the ESP32-C6 HPCORE selects RISCV_PMP when it is not built for MCUboot. ESP32-C5 in v4.4.x carries the same PMP-region and userspace linker support but does not select RISCV_PMP by default. Espressif Xtensa targets do not support Zephyr userspace, and in a non-userspace build the bad direction can only come from in-kernel application code. The impact is limited to availability: the access is a read at offset 0 of the missing stream structure, so there is no attacker-controlled offset, no write primitive and no information disclosure. With the default fatal-error handler the resulting exception halts the system, giving an unprivileged user-mode thread a system-wide denial of service. The fix adds the same pointer check the I2S_DIR_BOTH branch already performed and returns -ENOSYS for a direction the instance does not implement; the driver's other entry points (i2s_esp32_config_check(), i2s_esp32_config_get(), i2s_esp32_read(), i2s_esp32_write()) already guarded the pointers, and a static audit found no equivalent unguarded path. The driver defect is older than the affected range. The unguarded dereference is present from v4.2.0 (reached through i2s_esp32_trigger_stream(), whose if (stream) guard tests the address of a struct member and is never false) and takes its present i2s_esp32_trigger_check() form in v4.3.0. No in-tree Espressif configuration before v4.4.0 can run a user-mode thread, so in v4.2.x and v4.3.x the direction argument can only come from trusted kernel code. Those releases carry the bug but are not listed as affected; the fix has also been merged to v4.3-branch as hardening. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-82390 3.7 low 0.00% no CPE yet The Espressif AES driver drivers/crypto/crypto_esp32_aes.c advertises a multi-session cipher API — it hands out up to CONFIG_ESP32_CRYPTO_AES_SESSIONS_MAX (default 4) independent sessions, each carrying its own key and direction. The AES peripheral, however, has a single chip-global set of key and mode registers, and aes_begin_session() programmed them exactly once, at session start, outside the aes_lock mutex that serialises the transforms. The per-operation handlers aes_ecb_op(), aes_cbc_op() and aes_ctr_op() then ran aes_hal_transform_block() against whatever key and direction the registers happened to hold. As a result, once a second session is opened with a different key, every subsequent operation on the first session silently uses the second session's key and direction, and no error is reported. Because the key programming happened outside the lock, the correct usage pattern of "each thread does begin, then op, then free on its own session" also races: a second thread's cipher_begin_session() landing between the first thread's begin and its operation makes that operation run under the second thread's key. An attacker who can induce session creation on the device — for example a protocol peer whose connection causes a session key to be installed — can influence which key is resident when a victim operation runs. The impact is a cryptographic failure rather than memory corruption: data the application believed it was protecting under one key is encrypted or decrypted under another. Where the resident key is one the attacker knows or supplied, the affected plaintext becomes recoverable by that attacker, and the operation's direction (encrypt versus decrypt) can likewise be inverted. Exposure requires an application that holds two or more concurrent sessions with different keys against this driver; no in-tree Zephyr subsystem does so today (the 802.15.4 security layer, which does open two sessions, uses CCM mode, which this driver rejects), so the risk falls on application code that uses the documented multi-session API. The fix removes all hardware access from aes_begin_session() and reprograms the key and direction at the top of every operation, inside aes_lock, so the chip-global registers can no longer be observed stale by another session.
