CVE-2024-6387exploit ×98 8.1 high 100.0% sonicwall, arista, sma_6200_firmware, sma_7200_firmware, eos A security regression (CVE-2006-5051) was discovered in OpenSSH's server (sshd). There is a race condition which can lead sshd to handle some signals in an unsafe manner. An unauthenticated, remote attacker may be able to trigger it by failing to authenticate within a set time period. 15 Oct
CVE-2023-48795exploit ×5 5.9 medium 94.0% openbsd, putty, openssh, filezilla_client The SSH transport protocol with certain OpenSSH extensions, found in OpenSSH before 9.6 and other products, allows remote attackers to bypass integrity checks such that some packets are omitted (from the extension negotiation message), and a client and server may consequently end up with a connection for which some security features have been downgraded or disabled, aka a Terrapin attack. This occurs because the SSH Binary Packet Protocol (BPP), implemented by these extensions, mishandles the handshake phase and mishandles use of sequence numbers. For example, there is an effective attack against SSH's use of ChaCha20-Poly1305 (and CBC with Encrypt-then-MAC). The bypass occurs in [email protected] and (if CBC is used) the [email protected] MAC algorithms. This also affects Maverick Synergy Java SSH API before 3.1.0-SNAPSHOT, Dropbear through 2022.83, Ssh before 5.1.1 in Erlang/OTP, PuTTY before 0.80, AsyncSSH before 2.14.2, golang.org/x/crypto before 0.17.0, libssh before 0.10.6, libssh2 through 1.11.0, Thorn Tech SFTP Gateway before 3.4.6, Tera Term before 5.1, Paramiko before 3.4.0, jsch before 0.2.15, SFTPGo before 2.5.6, Netgate pfSense Plus through 23.09.1, Netgate pfSense CE through 2.7.2, HPN-SSH through 18.2.0, ProFTPD before 1.3.8b (and before 1.3.9rc2), ORYX CycloneSSH before 2.3.4, NetSarang XShell 7 before Build 0144, CrushFTP before 10.6.0, ConnectBot SSH library before 2.2.22, Apache MINA sshd through 2.11.0, sshj through 0.37.0, TinySSH through 20230101, trilead-ssh2 6401, LANCOM LCOS and LANconfig, FileZilla before 3.66.4, Nova before 11.8, PKIX-SSH before 14.4, SecureCRT before 9.4.3, Transmit5 before 5.10.4, Win32-OpenSSH before 9.5.0.0p1-Beta, WinSCP before 6.2.2, Bitvise SSH Server before 9.32, Bitvise SSH Client before 9.33, KiTTY through 0.76.1.13, the net-ssh gem 7.2.0 for Ruby, the mscdex ssh2 module before 1.15.0 for Node.js, the thrussh library before 0.35.1 for Rust, and the Russh crate before 0.40.2 for Rust. 15 Oct
CVE-2023-25136exploit ×11 6.5 medium 90.0% openbsd, fedoraproject, openssh, fedora, ontap_select_deploy_administration_utility OpenSSH server (sshd) 9.1 introduced a double-free vulnerability during options.kex_algorithms handling. This is fixed in OpenSSH 9.2. The double free can be leveraged, by an unauthenticated remote attacker in the default configuration, to jump to any location in the sshd address space. One third-party report states "remote code execution is theoretically possible." 14 Oct
CVE-2023-38408exploit ×10 9.8 critical 80.0% openbsd, fedoraproject, openssh, fedora The PKCS#11 feature in ssh-agent in OpenSSH before 9.3p2 has an insufficiently trustworthy search path, leading to remote code execution if an agent is forwarded to an attacker-controlled system. (Code in /usr/lib is not necessarily safe for loading into ssh-agent.) NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2016-10009. 15 Oct
CVE-2019-6111exploit ×4 5.9 medium 58.0% openbsd, winscp, openssh, ubuntu_linux An issue was discovered in OpenSSH 7.9. Due to the scp implementation being derived from 1983 rcp, the server chooses which files/directories are sent to the client. However, the scp client only performs cursory validation of the object name returned (only directory traversal attacks are prevented). A malicious scp server (or Man-in-The-Middle attacker) can overwrite arbitrary files in the scp client target directory. If recursive operation (-r) is performed, the server can manipulate subdirectories as well (for example, to overwrite the .ssh/authorized_keys file). 14 Oct
CVE-2025-26466exploit ×5 5.9 medium 39.0% openbsd, canonical, openssh, ubuntu_linux, debian_linux A flaw was found in the OpenSSH package. For each ping packet the SSH server receives, a pong packet is allocated in a memory buffer and stored in a queue of packages. It is only freed when the server/client key exchange has finished. A malicious client may keep sending such packages, leading to an uncontrolled increase in memory consumption on the server side. Consequently, the server may become unavailable, resulting in a denial of service attack. 21 Oct
CVE-2019-6110exploit ×2 6.8 medium 25.0% openbsd, winscp, openssh, element_software In OpenSSH 7.9, due to accepting and displaying arbitrary stderr output from the server, a malicious server (or Man-in-The-Middle attacker) can manipulate the client output, for example to use ANSI control codes to hide additional files being transferred. 14 Oct
CVE-2023-51385exploit ×23 6.5 medium 20.0% openbsd, debian, openssh, debian_linux In ssh in OpenSSH before 9.6, OS command injection might occur if a user name or host name has shell metacharacters, and this name is referenced by an expansion token in certain situations. For example, an untrusted Git repository can have a submodule with shell metacharacters in a user name or host name. 15 Oct
CVE-2020-15778exploit ×4 7.4 high 14.0% openbsd, netapp, openssh, a700s_firmware, active_iq_unified_manager scp in OpenSSH through 8.3p1 allows command injection in the scp.c toremote function, as demonstrated by backtick characters in the destination argument. NOTE: the vendor reportedly has stated that they intentionally omit validation of "anomalous argument transfers" because that could "stand a great chance of breaking existing workflows." 14 Oct
CVE-2025-26465exploit ×2 6.8 medium 8.0% openbsd, netapp, openssh, active_iq_unified_manager, ontap A vulnerability was found in OpenSSH when the VerifyHostKeyDNS option is enabled. A machine-in-the-middle attack can be performed by a malicious machine impersonating a legit server. This issue occurs due to how OpenSSH mishandles error codes in specific conditions when verifying the host key. For an attack to be considered successful, the attacker needs to manage to exhaust the client's memory resource first, turning the attack complexity high. 21 Oct
CVE-2021-41617exploit 7.0 high 3.0% openbsd, fedoraproject, openssh, fedora, active_iq_unified_manager sshd in OpenSSH 6.2 through 8.x before 8.8, when certain non-default configurations are used, allows privilege escalation because supplemental groups are not initialized as expected. Helper programs for AuthorizedKeysCommand and AuthorizedPrincipalsCommand may run with privileges associated with group memberships of the sshd process, if the configuration specifies running the command as a different user. 14 Oct
CVE-2025-61984exploit ×2 3.6 low 0.00% no CPE yet ssh in OpenSSH before 10.1 allows control characters in usernames that originate from certain possibly untrusted sources, potentially leading to code execution when a ProxyCommand is used. The untrusted sources are the command line and %-sequence expansion of a configuration file. (A configuration file that provides a complete literal username is not categorized as an untrusted source.) 15 Oct
CVE-2024-6409 7.0 high 28.0% no CPE yet A race condition vulnerability was discovered in how signals are handled by OpenSSH's server (sshd). If a remote attacker does not authenticate within a set time period, then sshd's SIGALRM handler is called asynchronously. However, this signal handler calls various functions that are not async-signal-safe, for example, syslog(). As a consequence of a successful attack, in the worst case scenario, an attacker may be able to perform a remote code execution (RCE) as an unprivileged user running the sshd server. 15 Oct
CVE-2021-28041 7.1 high 4.0% openbsd, fedoraproject, openssh, fedora, cloud_backup ssh-agent in OpenSSH before 8.5 has a double free that may be relevant in a few less-common scenarios, such as unconstrained agent-socket access on a legacy operating system, or the forwarding of an agent to an attacker-controlled host. 14 Oct
CVE-2019-6109 6.8 medium 4.0% openbsd, winscp, openssh, ubuntu_linux An issue was discovered in OpenSSH 7.9. Due to missing character encoding in the progress display, a malicious server (or Man-in-The-Middle attacker) can employ crafted object names to manipulate the client output, e.g., by using ANSI control codes to hide additional files being transferred. This affects refresh_progress_meter() in progressmeter.c. 14 Oct
CVE-2023-28531 9.8 critical 3.0% openbsd, netapp, openssh, brocade_fabric_operating_system, hci_bootstrap_os ssh-add in OpenSSH before 9.3 adds smartcard keys to ssh-agent without the intended per-hop destination constraints. The earliest affected version is 8.9. 14 Oct
CVE-2020-14145 5.9 medium 3.0% openbsd, netapp, openssh, aff_a700s_firmware, active_iq_unified_manager The client side in OpenSSH 5.7 through 8.4 has an Observable Discrepancy leading to an information leak in the algorithm negotiation. This allows man-in-the-middle attackers to target initial connection attempts (where no host key for the server has been cached by the client). NOTE: some reports state that 8.5 and 8.6 are also affected. 14 Oct
CVE-2019-16905 7.8 high 2.0% openbsd, netapp, openssh, cloud_backup, steelstore_cloud_integrated_storage OpenSSH 7.7 through 7.9 and 8.x before 8.1, when compiled with an experimental key type, has a pre-authentication integer overflow if a client or server is configured to use a crafted XMSS key. This leads to memory corruption and local code execution because of an error in the XMSS key parsing algorithm. NOTE: the XMSS implementation is considered experimental in all released OpenSSH versions, and there is no supported way to enable it when building portable OpenSSH. 14 Oct
CVE-2020-12062 7.5 high 2.0% openbsd, openssh The scp client in OpenSSH 8.2 incorrectly sends duplicate responses to the server upon a utimes system call failure, which allows a malicious unprivileged user on the remote server to overwrite arbitrary files in the client's download directory by creating a crafted subdirectory anywhere on the remote server. The victim must use the command scp -rp to download a file hierarchy containing, anywhere inside, this crafted subdirectory. NOTE: the vendor points out that "this attack can achieve no more than a hostile peer is already able to achieve within the scp protocol" and "utimes does not fail under normal circumstances. 14 Oct
CVE-2026-3497 6.9 medium 2.0% canonical, openbsd, ubuntu_linux, openssh, debian_linux Vulnerability in the OpenSSH GSSAPI delta included in various Linux distributions. This vulnerability affects the GSSAPI patches added by various Linux distributions and does not affect the OpenSSH upstream project itself. The usage of sshpkt_disconnect() on an error, which does not terminate the process, allows an attacker to send an unexpected GSSAPI message type during the GSSAPI key exchange to the server, which will call the underlying function and continue the execution of the program without setting the related connection variables. As the variables are not initialized to NULL the code later accesses those uninitialized variables, accessing random memory, which could lead to undefined behavior. The recommended workaround is to use ssh_packet_disconnect() instead, which does terminate the process. The impact of the vulnerability depends heavily on the compiler flag hardening configuration. 15 Oct
CVE-2026-97816 9.8 critical 1.0% microsoft, windows_10_1809, windows_10_21h2, windows_10_22h2 Use after free in OpenSSH for Windows allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-105429 8.9 high 1.0% no CPE yet Improper neutralization of special elements in the NetBird client SSH configuration manager (client/ssh/config/manager.go) in NetBird versions 0.60.0 through 0.74.6 allows a malicious or compromised peer to execute arbitrary commands on other NetBird client hosts. The client writes a system-wide OpenSSH drop-in file (/etc/ssh/ssh_config.d/99-netbird.conf, or the equivalent under %PROGRAMDATA%\ssh\ssh_config.d on Windows) that embeds each peer FQDN or hostname inside a double-quoted Match host directive without escaping. A peer name containing a double quote breaks out of the quoted context and injects arbitrary SSH configuration directives, including exec commands, which run locally as any user on the host the next time that user runs ssh. Desktop clients on Linux, macOS, Windows and FreeBSD are affected; the Android and iOS apps are not. The issue is fixed in version 0.74.7, which accepts a peer FQDN or hostname only if it is a valid DNS name. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-88157 8.8 high 1.0% microsoft, windows_10_1809, windows_10_21h2, windows_10_22h2 Heap-based buffer overflow in OpenSSH for Windows allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. 5 h ago
CVE-2026-83923 8.8 high 1.0% no CPE yet Relative path traversal in OpenSSH for Windows allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. 19 Oct
CVE-2026-45309 8.2 high 1.0% asyncssh_project, asyncssh AsyncSSH is a Python package which provides an asynchronous client and server implementation of the SSHv2 protocol on top of the Python asyncio framework. Prior to 2.23.0, AsyncSSH expands the OpenSSH-compatible AuthorizedKeysFile %u token in asyncssh/config.py, asyncssh/connection.py, asyncssh/auth_keys.py, and asyncssh/misc.py with the raw SSH username during pre-authentication server config reload, allowing a server configured with AuthorizedKeysFile authorized_keys/%u to read an authorized-keys file outside the intended directory when the SSH username contains /, \, or .. path traversal segments and authenticate with an attacker-selected key file. This issue is fixed in version 2.23.0. Sat 24 Oct
CVE-2026-70163 7.5 high 1.0% microsoft, windows_10_1809, windows_10_21h2, windows_10_22h2 Allocation of resources without limits or throttling in OpenSSH for Windows allows an unauthorized attacker to deny service over a network. 11 h ago
CVE-2026-60000 7.5 high 1.0% openbsd, openssh sshd in OpenSSH before 10.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (resource consumption from excessive authentication attempts) because MaxAuthTries was mishandled for GSSAPIAuthentication. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-83754 7.5 high 1.0% no CPE yet Heap-based buffer overflow in OpenSSH for Windows allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. 19 Oct
CVE-2023-51767 7.0 high 1.0% openbsd, fedoraproject, openssh, fedora, enterprise_linux OpenSSH through 10.0, when common types of DRAM are used, might allow row hammer attacks (for authentication bypass) because the integer value of authenticated in mm_answer_authpassword does not resist flips of a single bit. NOTE: this is applicable to a certain threat model of attacker-victim co-location in which the attacker has user privileges. NOTE: this is disputed by the Supplier, who states "we do not consider it to be the application's responsibility to defend against platform architectural weaknesses." 15 Oct
CVE-2026-55653 6.5 medium 1.0% openbsd, redhat, openssh, hardened_images, openshift_container_platform A flaw was found in OpenSSH. A malicious SSH server can exploit a double free vulnerability in the Diffie-Hellman Group Exchange (DH-GEX) client path. This occurs during FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) mode known-group validation when the client processes attacker-controlled DH-GEX group parameters. Successful exploitation leads to client-side process termination, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-60002 9.4 critical 0.00% openbsd, openssh ssh in OpenSSH before 10.4 can have a use-after-free when a server changes its host key during a key re-exchange. (This outcome occurs only on the client side.) Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-83769 7.8 high 0.00% no CPE yet Use after free in OpenSSH for Windows allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. 19 Oct
CVE-2026-97811 7.8 high 0.00% microsoft, windows_10_1809, windows_10_21h2, windows_10_22h2 Double free in OpenSSH for Windows allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-106583 7.8 high 0.00% openbsd, openssh In ssh in OpenSSH before 10.6, a $ or \ character can occur in a command-line username, leading to injection. 15 Oct
CVE-2026-47829 7.7 high 0.00% cloudfoundry, bosh_cli Argument Injection in bosh-cli allows a compromised BOSH Director to inject arbitrary OpenSSH options into the locally-spawned ssh process when an operator runs bosh ssh -c, bosh logs -f, or other non-interactive SSH paths, leading to local command execution on the operator's workstation. Affected versions: bosh-cli versions prior to v7.10.4. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-59999 7.5 high 0.00% openbsd, openssh In sshd in OpenSSH before 10.4, DisableForwarding=yes was supposed to take precedence over PermitTunnel=yes, but did not. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-106553 7.5 high 0.00% openbsd, openssh In sshd in OpenSSH before 10.6, credentials can incorrectly persist after failure of a GSSAPIAuthentication authentication attempt. 13 Oct
CVE-2026-106555 7.5 high 0.00% openbsd, openssh In sshd in OpenSSH before 10.6, GSSAPIAuthentication authentication state can incorrectly be persisted across authentication attempts. 13 Oct
CVE-2026-56624 7.3 high 0.00% apache, mina_sshd Improper certificate validation in Apache MINA SSHD (server-side). Apache MINA SSHD is a Java library for client-side and server-side SSH. Server-side OpenSSH user certificate validation during user authentication in an Apache MINA SSHD server did not check for the unsupported force-command or verify-required options that could be embedded in the certificate, nor did it validate these options. As a result it was possible that a user could authenticate with such a certificate that included a force-command option but still was able to execute other commands. What other command exactly would be available to the user depends on the implementation of the server. This issue is fixed in Apache MINA SSHD 2.19.0 and 3.0.0-M5. Applications are advised to upgrade to these versions. The fix rejects OpenSSH user certificates that include these options, since Apache MINA SSHD implements neither force-command nor sk-*[email protected] user certificates (which are the only ones for which verify-required would make sense). Sat 24 Oct
CVE-2026-83871 7.0 high 0.00% microsoft, windows_10_1809, windows_10_21h2, windows_10_22h2 Heap-based buffer overflow in OpenSSH for Windows allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. 21 Oct
CVE-2026-59998 6.5 medium 0.00% openbsd, openssh sshd in OpenSSH before 10.4 has an undocumented security-relevant behavior: GSSAPIStrictAcceptorCheck has no value if the server is in Windows Active Directory. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-60001 6.5 medium 0.00% openbsd, openssh sshd in OpenSSH before 10.4 does not always honor the minimum authentication delay. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-106585 6.5 medium 0.00% openbsd, openssh In sshd and ssh in OpenSSH before 10.6, there is no check for whether the maximum packet length is exceeded during decompression of highly compressed data. 15 Oct
CVE-2026-106552 6.5 medium 0.00% openbsd, openssh In sftp in OpenSSH before 10.6, a server can trigger directory traversal (causing files to be written to unintended locations) during a recursive copy operation. 13 Oct
CVE-2026-55655 6.1 medium 0.00% openbsd, redhat, openssh, enterprise_linux A flaw was found in OpenSSH. A local unprivileged attacker on a Linux client host can hijack client-side X11 forwarding connections. This is possible by pre-binding the preferred abstract X socket name when X11 forwarding is enabled and a local UNIX-domain X socket is used. A successful attack can compromise the confidentiality of forwarded X11 traffic, including sensitive window contents and input, and may allow some manipulation of the forwarded session. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2023-51384 5.5 medium 0.00% openbsd, debian, openssh, debian_linux In ssh-agent in OpenSSH before 9.6, certain destination constraints can be incompletely applied. When destination constraints are specified during addition of PKCS#11-hosted private keys, these constraints are only applied to the first key, even if a PKCS#11 token returns multiple keys. 15 Oct
CVE-2026-59995 5.4 medium 0.00% openbsd, openssh sftp in OpenSSH before 10.4 does not properly constrain the location of downloaded files when "sftp server:/path ." is used with an attacker-controlled server. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-59996 5.4 medium 0.00% openbsd, openssh scp in OpenSSH before 10.4 may place a file in the parent directory of an intended directory when the copy occurs between two remote destinations. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-59997 5.4 medium 0.00% openbsd, openssh internal-sftp in sshd in OpenSSH before 10.4 recognizes only the first 9 command-line arguments, which can be important if a later command-line argument would have helped to ensure the intended security properties of an SFTP connection. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-109786 5.3 medium 0.00% no CPE yet In fail2ban 0.10.5 through 1.1.1 before ddd879d, the sshd filter (config/filter.d/sshd.conf) accepts an "on <token>" suffix after the host address. Because OpenSSH logs the offered username verbatim, a remote unauthenticated attacker can use a username such as "x VICTIM-SOURCE-IP-ADDRESS on" to make fail2ban associate failed login attempts with an arbitrary source IP address and ban it (e.g., to block logins from a legitimate user). The default filter mode is affected. 16 Oct
