CVE-2019-19906 7.5 high 8.0% cyrusimap, debian, cyrus-sasl, debian_linux, ubuntu_linux cyrus-sasl (aka Cyrus SASL) 2.1.27 has an out-of-bounds write leading to unauthenticated remote denial-of-service in OpenLDAP via a malformed LDAP packet. The OpenLDAP crash is ultimately caused by an off-by-one error in _sasl_add_string in common.c in cyrus-sasl. 14 Oct
CVE-2019-13057 4.9 medium 7.0% openldap, canonical, ubuntu_linux, debian_linux An issue was discovered in the server in OpenLDAP before 2.4.48. When the server administrator delegates rootDN (database admin) privileges for certain databases but wants to maintain isolation (e.g., for multi-tenant deployments), slapd does not properly stop a rootDN from requesting authorization as an identity from another database during a SASL bind or with a proxyAuthz (RFC 4370) control. (It is not a common configuration to deploy a system where the server administrator and a DB administrator enjoy different levels of trust.) 14 Oct
CVE-2019-13565 7.5 high 5.0% openldap, canonical, ubuntu_linux, debian_linux An issue was discovered in OpenLDAP 2.x before 2.4.48. When using SASL authentication and session encryption, and relying on the SASL security layers in slapd access controls, it is possible to obtain access that would otherwise be denied via a simple bind for any identity covered in those ACLs. After the first SASL bind is completed, the sasl_ssf value is retained for all new non-SASL connections. Depending on the ACL configuration, this can affect different types of operations (searches, modifications, etc.). In other words, a successful authorization step completed by one user affects the authorization requirement for a different user. 14 Oct
CVE-2022-24407 8.8 high 4.0% cyrusimap, debian, cyrus-sasl, debian_linux, fedora In Cyrus SASL 2.1.17 through 2.1.27 before 2.1.28, plugins/sql.c does not escape the password for a SQL INSERT or UPDATE statement. 14 Oct
CVE-2022-22576 8.1 high 3.0% haxx, debian, curl, debian_linux, clustered_data_ontap An improper authentication vulnerability exists in curl 7.33.0 to and including 7.82.0 which might allow reuse OAUTH2-authenticated connections without properly making sure that the connection was authenticated with the same credentials as set for this transfer. This affects SASL-enabled protocols: SMPTP(S), IMAP(S), POP3(S) and LDAP(S) (openldap only). 14 Oct
CVE-2026-18922 9.8 critical 1.0% no CPE yet A flaw was found in 389 Directory Server. During SASL PLAIN authentication, a stale identity carried in a Cyrus SASL auxiliary property from a prior failed bind attempt can be installed on a connection following a subsequent, unrelated successful bind, regardless of which SASL mechanism completes that second bind. An attacker can send a SASL PLAIN bind as cn=Directory Manager with an incorrect password, then complete a SASL ANONYMOUS bind on the same connection, causing the server to grant Directory Manager authority without any valid credentials. A variant using a valid low-privileged account's own successful bind instead of an anonymous one is also possible. 8 Oct
CVE-2026-75852 9.3 critical 1.0% no CPE yet ArcadeDB versions before 26.8.1 fail to enforce SASL authentication on data commands in the MongoDB wire-protocol plugin. Unauthenticated attackers can issue insert, find, update, delete, and create commands against any database by connecting to port 27017 without credentials. 22 Oct
CVE-2026-33557 9.1 critical 1.0% apache, kafka A possible security vulnerability has been identified in Apache Kafka. By default, the broker property `sasl.oauthbearer.jwt.validator.class` is set to `org.apache.kafka.common.security.oauthbearer.DefaultJwtValidator`. It accepts any JWT token without validating its signature, issuer, or audience. An attacker can generate a JWT token from any issuer with the `preferred_username` set to any user, and the broker will accept it. We advise the Kafka users using kafka v4.1.0 or v4.1.1 to set the config `sasl.oauthbearer.jwt.validator.class` to `org.apache.kafka.common.security.oauthbearer.BrokerJwtValidator` explicitly to avoid this vulnerability. Since Kafka v4.1.2 and v4.2.0 and later, the issue is fixed and will correctly validate the JWT token. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-101296 9.1 critical 1.0% no CPE yet A missing critical step in authentication vulnerability in Apache Tomcat when the JNDI realm was configured with with a non GSSAPI SASL authentication mechanism allowed attackers to authenticate without providing the correct password. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.26, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.60, from 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.122. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: from 8.5.0 through 8.5.100, from 7.0.0 through 7.0.109. Other unsupported versions may also be affected. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.27, 10.1.61 or 9.0.123, which fix the issue. 21 Oct
CVE-2026-75853 8.7 high 1.0% no CPE yet ArcadeDB's Gremlin wire-protocol plugin (com.arcadedb:arcadedb-gremlin) in versions <= 26.7.3 enforces authentication (SASL PLAIN) but performs no authorization: it never checks database access permissions (canAccessToDatabase) and never binds the authenticated principal into the engine. As a result, any valid server credential — even one provisioned for zero or one unrelated database — can read, write, and drop data in any database on the server by selecting a target database via a traversal-source alias, completely bypassing the engine's per-type/read-only/UPDATE_SCHEMA ACLs. The issue is fixed in version 26.8.1. 22 Oct
CVE-2026-58015 7.5 high 1.0% gnome, redhat, glib, enterprise_linux A flaw was found in GLib. The D-Bus client-side implementation of the DBUS_COOKIE_SHA1 SASL authentication mechanism does not validate the cookie_context parameter received from the server. A malicious D-Bus server can supply a cookie_context containing path traversal sequences, causing the client to read an arbitrary file and exfiltrate sensitive data by verifying guessed file contents against a generated hash. 22 Oct
CVE-2026-18355 7.5 high 1.0% no CPE yet A heap buffer overflow flaw was found in the SASL I/O layer of 389 Directory Server (389-ds-base). In sasl_io_start_packet(), the wrapped-record length read from the wire is validated only against an upper bound. A small wire length (0, 1, or 2) produces an encrypted_buffer_count below the already-consumed encrypted_buffer_offset, causing an unsigned subtraction underflow in sasl_io_read_packet(). PR_Recv is then requested to read approximately 4 GiB into a 1024-byte heap buffer, resulting in a heap buffer overflow with attacker-controlled content. After a successful SASL bind with integrity protection (SSF > 0), a remote authenticated attacker can cause a denial of service or potentially achieve remote code execution. This flaw is distinct from CVE-2026-11774, whose fix only guards against upper-bound overflow. 8 Oct
CVE-2025-59432 6.6 medium 1.0% no CPE yet SCRAM (Salted Challenge Response Authentication Mechanism) is part of the family of Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL, RFC 4422) authentication mechanisms. Prior to version 3.2, a timing attack vulnerability exists in the SCRAM Java implementation. The issue arises because Arrays.equals was used to compare secret values such as client proofs and server signatures. Since Arrays.equals performs a short-circuit comparison, the execution time varies depending on how many leading bytes match. This behavior could allow an attacker to perform a timing side-channel attack and potentially infer sensitive authentication material. All users relying on SCRAM authentication are impacted. This vulnerability has been patched in version 3.1 by replacing Arrays.equals with MessageDigest.isEqual, which ensures constant-time comparison. 11 Oct
CVE-2026-78701 6.5 medium 1.0% no CPE yet A flaw was found in 389-ds-base. A remote, authenticated attacker could exploit a vulnerability in the Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) UNBIND process. By sending a specially crafted request, the attacker can cause a connection to stall, leading to resource exhaustion and a Denial of Service (DoS) for the server. 9 Oct
CVE-2026-67414 6.0 medium 1.0% no CPE yet RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. From 4.0.0 until 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.4, deps/amqp10_common/src/amqp10_binary_parser.erl materializes each element of AMQP 1.0 arrays whose shared constructor has zero width, while limiting only the number of elements in each array and not the aggregate arrays in a frame. After completing SASL authentication, a low-privilege client can send an ordinary frame containing many individually permitted arrays, causing a small frame to expand into a very large reader-process heap before later frame validation or authorization. Because deps/rabbit/src/rabbit_amqp_reader.erl clears the pre-authentication max_heap_size guard after login, repeated or concurrent frames can trigger the node-wide memory alarm, block publishers, or exhaust broker memory. This issue is fixed in versions 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.4. 9 h ago
CVE-2026-10832 5.9 medium 1.0% no CPE yet A flaw was found in the DERDecoder class within wildfly-elytron-asn1. A remote attacker can exploit this resource exhaustion vulnerability by sending a specially crafted DER (Distinguished Encoding Rules) payload. The decoder attempts to allocate excessive memory based on an inflated length value without proper validation, leading to Java Virtual Machine (JVM) memory exhaustion. This results in a remote Denial of Service (DoS) for services that process untrusted DER/ASN.1 input, including SASL (Simple Authentication and Security Layer) authentication mechanisms and X.500 certificate principal parsing paths. 20 Oct
CVE-2026-73644 9.6 critical 0.00% no CPE yet OpenDJ is an LDAPv3 compliant directory service. Prior to 5.1.2, the SASL PLAIN authorization identity path in opendj-server-legacy/src/main/java/org/opends/server/extensions/PlainSASLMechanismHandler.java checked the PROXIED_AUTH privilege but did not evaluate the mayProxy proxy ACI scope when an authzid resolved to a different user. Both dn: and u: or bare authzid forms could therefore let an authenticated account holding PROXIED_AUTH assume any resolvable non-root identity outside the identities permitted by its proxy ACI. The fix returns INVALID_CREDENTIALS (49) before password verification when the target authorization identity is not permitted. This issue is fixed in version 5.1.2. Sat 24 Oct
CVE-2026-6691 8.6 high 0.00% mongodb, c_driver The MongoDB C Driver's Cyrus SASL integration performs unsafe string copying during username canonicalization, enabling a heap buffer overflow before any authentication or network traffic. This may be triggered by passing untrusted input in the username of a MongoDB URI with authMechanism=GSSAPI. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-53712 8.2 high 0.00% no CPE yet SCRAM (Salted Challenge Response Authentication Mechanism) is part of the family of Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL, RFC 4422) authentication mechanisms. Prior to 3.3, a flaw in com.ongres.scram:scram-client and com.ongres.scram:scram-common allows an attacker capable of a TLS man-in-the-middle attack to silently downgrade a connection from SCRAM-SHA-256-PLUS with channel binding to standard SCRAM-SHA-256 without channel binding when TlsServerEndpoint processes an X.509 certificate using a modern signature algorithm such as Ed25519; getChannelBindingData() can return an empty byte array after NoSuchAlgorithmException, and the ScramClient builder treats that as absent channel-binding data. This issue is fixed in version 3.3. Sat 24 Oct
CVE-2026-66079 8.2 high 0.00% broadcom, rabbitmq_server RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. Prior to versions 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, and 4.2.6, parse_array_primitive/2 for constructor 0x45 (list0) returns an element with byte-width B = 0. The enclosing array32 parser at line 148 reads a 4-byte Count from the wire and loops Count times consuming B bytes each , with B = 0, no input is consumed and the loop builds a list of Count empty elements bounded only by the 32-bit field. The SASL-mechanisms / SASL-init frame is parsed by amqp10_framing:decode_bin/1 from rabbit_amqp_reader.erl:412 before authentication completes. The pre-auth incoming_max_frame_size (default 8192 bytes) caps the frame, not the Count field, so a 19-byte payload with Count = 0xFFFFFFFF is accepted. No max_heap_size is set on the reader process. An unauthenticated network attacker can crash any RabbitMQ node that has the AMQP 1.0 listener enabled (default port 5672) by sending a single ~19-byte frame. The reader process attempts to build a list of ~4 billion empty elements, exhausting heap memory and terminating the Erlang VM. All tenants and protocols on the node lose service. Preconditions include Network reachability to the AMQP listener (port 5672, enabled by default) No authentication required. This issue is fixed in versions 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, and 4.2.6. 19 Oct
CVE-2026-105311 7.7 high 0.00% no CPE yet The StreamsHub Console operator acts as a confused deputy: a Kubernetes tenant with permission to create a Console custom resource can set spec.kafkaClusters[].credentials.kafkaUser.namespace to any namespace. The operator, running with cluster-wide Secrets RBAC, reads the victim-namespace KafkaUser Secret (SASL credentials or TLS private keys) and writes the plaintext material into a Secret in the attacker's namespace. No same-namespace check or allowlist exists anywhere in the code path. 21 Oct
CVE-2026-107161 7.5 high 0.00% no CPE yet A heap-based buffer overflow flaw was found in Cyrus SASL. The add_to_challenge() function in the DIGEST-MD5 plugin computes the size of the buffer needed for a challenge/response field before DIGEST-MD5 quoting is applied, but does not recompute that size when quoting (escaping special characters) makes the value longer. The under-sized buffer is then passed to strcat(), causing a heap-based out-of-bounds write whose size depends on attacker-controlled input. A malicious or on-path DIGEST-MD5 (or HTTP Digest) server can trigger this flaw in a connecting client by supplying a crafted challenge field, such as realm or nonce, most likely resulting in a crash of the client application. 10 Oct
CVE-2026-41319 5.9 medium 0.00% jstedfast, mailkit MailKit is a cross-platform mail client library built on top of MimeKit. A STARTTLS Response Injection vulnerability in versions prior to 4.16.0 allows a Man-in-the-Middle attacker to inject arbitrary protocol responses across the plaintext-to-TLS trust boundary, enabling SASL authentication mechanism downgrade (e.g., forcing PLAIN instead of SCRAM-SHA-256). The internal read buffer in `SmtpStream`, `ImapStream`, and `Pop3Stream` is not flushed when the underlying stream is replaced with `SslStream` during STARTTLS upgrade, causing pre-TLS attacker-injected data to be processed as trusted post-TLS responses. Version 4.16.0 patches the issue. Mon 26 Oct
CVE-2026-56968 5.3 medium 0.00% gnu, debian, sasl, debian_linux GNU SASL before 2.2.4 lacks sanitization of a short challenge in _gsasl_ntlm_client_step in the NTLM client, which could result in memory disclosure via a crafted server. Sun 25 Oct
CVE-2026-114471 4.7 medium 0.00% no CPE yet Insertion of sensitive information into a log file in the SMTP server of Progressive Robot hMailServer 6.0.0 through 6.3.6 allows a local user who can read the server's log, or anyone given a copy of it, to obtain credentials. With SMTP logging enabled, the server hid the credential of an AUTH PLAIN command only when it was sent after EHLO in one exact form, and wrote the rest of the SASL exchange as the client sent it: a PLAIN password sent before EHLO or with extra spacing, the OAuth 2.0 bearer token of AUTH XOAUTH2 and AUTH OAUTHBEARER (from 6.2.0), the SCRAM-SHA-256 client proof (from 6.2.0), which with the logged salt and iteration count allows offline password guessing, and the GSSAPI authenticator (from 6.3.2). SMTP logging is off by default; on Windows before 6.3.6 the log folder was readable by every local user. 2 h ago
CVE-2026-67406 4.6 medium 0.00% broadcom, rabbitmq_server RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. From 4.0.0 until 4.3.3, 4.2.9, 4.1.14, and 4.0.23, Shovel does not format state logged by the crash reporter and can leave unencrypted credentials in a crash dump file. the shovel worker genserver processes does not implement the formatstatus/2 callback. When these processes crash (e.g., due to network partitions, connection failures), the OTP SASL error handler writes the full process state , including plaintext AMQP passwords and URIs , to the error log. This is particularly severe for the shovel worker, which stores deobfuscated plaintext URIs (including amqp://user:password@host format) in its genserver state for the entire process Automatic Credential Exposure: Shovel worker crashes (common during network partitions) automatically write plaintext upstream/downstream passwords to error logs No Special Configuration Needed: Unlike DEBUG logging, SASL error reports are always active Broad. This issue is fixed in versions 4.3.3, 4.2.9, 4.1.14, and 4.0.23. 16 Oct
CVE-2026-114230 unscored — apache software foundation, apache qpid proton c When dispatching SASL frames to authenticate the peer, Proton will also dispatch AMQP frames if they claim to be SASL frames. This allows authentication bypass. However there will be no user name set so the effects depend on how the application deals with this condition - which otherwise means that authentication has not completed yet. This issue affects Apache Qpid Proton C: through 0.40.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 0.41.1, which fixes the issue. 12 h ago
CVE-2026-110985 unscored — no CPE yet A Kafka broker using SASL/OAUTHBEARER with the default validator (sasl.oauthbearer.jwt.validator.class=DefaultJwtValidator) selects its implementation from configuration. When sasl.oauthbearer.jwks.endpoint.url is set, the validator verifies the JWT signature. When that URL is unset (the default) and no verification key resolver is supplied, DefaultJwtValidator silently falls back to ClientJwtValidator, which does not verify the JWT signature, algorithm, or issuer - and the broker starts with no warning or error. This is the residual of CVE-2026-33557, whose fix restored signature verification only on the path where the JWKS endpoint URL is set. Impact: A broker in this state accepts any structurally valid JWT, including "alg":"none" tokens. An unauthenticated remote attacker who can reach the listener can forge a token asserting any principal - including configured superusers - and gain full access to the cluster. Only brokers that enable SASL/OAUTHBEARER validation without a JWKS endpoint URL (and without a custom verification key resolver) are affected; brokers that set the URL verify signatures and are not affected. Unlike CVE-2026-110952 (issuer/audience not enforced by default), here no signature is verified at all. Mitigation (all affected versions, no upgrade required): Set sasl.oauthbearer.jwks.endpoint.url for every listener/mechanism that uses OAuthBearerValidatorCallbackHandler, or configure a signature-verifying sasl.oauthbearer.jwt.validator.class. Resolution: From Apache Kafka 4.2.2, 4.3.1, and 4.4.0: a broker that would fall back to the non-verifying ClientJwtValidator fails to start with a ConfigException instead of running without signature verification (secure by default). Wed 28 Oct
CVE-2026-110952 unscored — no CPE yet A Kafka broker that authenticates clients with SASL/OAUTHBEARER using the bundled JWKS-backed validator always verifies the JWT signature, but two further checks are only performed when explicitly configured: - The issuer (iss) claim is verified only when sasl.oauthbearer.expected.issuer is set. When it is unset, a validly-signed token carrying the expected audience is accepted regardless of which issuer minted it. - An audience (aud) claim is required only when sasl.oauthbearer.expected.audience is set. When it is unset, a validly-signed token that omits the aud claim is accepted. (A token that carries an aud claim is still rejected when no expected audience is configured.) Both options default to unset and have been documented as optional (Importance LOW) since KIP-768 (3.1.0). Impact: The exposure is realizable mainly in deployments whose JWKS endpoint serves signing keys for more than one issuer (a multi-tenant identity provider, an aggregated/shared JWKS, or shared signing keys): a token minted for a different issuer, or a token lacking an audience, may be accepted to authenticate — potentially as a higher-privileged principal. In a single-issuer deployment where the provider controls the iss claim and issues audience-scoped tokens, exposure is limited. The signature trust anchor remains enforced in all cases. This is distinct from CVE-2026-33557 (acceptance of unsigned/unvalidated tokens); here the signature is validated and only the issuer/audience checks are not enforced by default. Mitigation (all affected versions, no upgrade required): Set both sasl.oauthbearer.expected.issuer (to your provider's exact iss value) and sasl.oauthbearer.expected.audience (to the audience(s) your brokers expect), per listener. Brokers that set these perform exact-match issuer/audience checks and are not affected. Both have been available since 3.1.0. Resolution: - From Apache Kafka 4.4.0: a broker configured with a JWKS endpoint fails to start unless both sasl.oauthbearer.expected.issuer and sasl.oauthbearer.expected.audience are set (secure by default). Deployments that intentionally do not restrict the issuer and/or audience may opt out per axis with sasl.oauthbearer.allow.unverified.issuer=true and/or sasl.oauthbearer.allow.unverified.audience=true.
