| CVE-2026-23981 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, superset | An Improper Authorization vulnerability exists in Apache Superset allowing an authenticated user with permissions to update charts to modify dashboards they do not own. When updating a chart's properties via the REST API, a user can provide a list of dashboard IDs (dashboards) to associate the chart with. The validation logic in the UpdateChartCommand failed to verify that the user had write permissions for the target dashboards specified in the request body. This issue affects Apache Superset: before 6.0.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 6.0.0, which fixes the issue. | Fri 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-23985 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, superset | A Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) vulnerability exists in Apache Superset versions 1.5.0 through 5.0.0. The vulnerability is located in the sql_parse.py component, specifically within the SQL_REGEX used for parsing SQL statements in the sqlparse library integration. The affected regular expression contains overlapping disjunctions that share a common outer quantifier. An authenticated attacker can exploit this by sending a maliciously crafted input string (specifically a long sequence of backslashes or similar characters) to endpoints that process SQL queries This issue affects Apache Superset: before 6.0.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 6.0.0, which fixes the issue. Workarounds: ● WAF Rules: Implement Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules to detect and block requests containing excessively long sequences of backslashes or suspicious repeated patterns in the queries.extras.where parameter. ● Rate Limiting: Ensure strict rate limiting is applied to the /api/v1/chart/data endpoint to reduce the impact of potential attacks. | Fri 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105936 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | no CPE yet | The Pulsar Functions worker REST API provides two endpoints that return the catalog of Pulsar IO connectors installed on the functions worker: the worker connectors endpoint (/admin/v2/worker/connectors) and the deprecated functions connectors endpoint (/admin/v2/functions/connectors and /admin/v3/functions/connectors). When authorization is enabled, the worker connectors endpoint requires super-user access. The functions connectors endpoint, served both by the functions worker and by a broker running the functions worker, returns the same catalog without this check. As a result, when authentication and authorization are enabled, any authenticated client can read the connector catalog through the functions connectors endpoint, regardless of the permissions granted to its role and without super-user access. Unauthenticated requests are rejected unless anonymous access is configured with an anonymous user role. The catalog contains the connector type definitions installed in the functions worker's connectors directory: the connector name, its description, and the source, sink and configuration class names. It does not contain configured source or sink instances, their configuration values or credentials, and an installed connector type does not indicate that a connector is configured or running. The impact is limited to disclosure of this metadata, which can include the names and descriptions of custom connectors installed by the operator. The issue does not allow modifying the catalog or managing connectors. Connector definitions that have a source or sink class are also returned by the built-in sources and sinks endpoints to authenticated clients. In fixed versions, the functions connectors endpoint applies the same checks as the worker connectors endpoint, so that it requires super-user access when authorization is enabled. Clients that are not super-users can use the built-in sources and sinks endpoints to list the available connector types. This issue affects Apache Pulsar versions from 2.4.1 before 4.0.14 and from 4.1.0 before 4.2.5. - 4.0.x version users should upgrade to at least 4.0.14. - 4.1.x and 4.2.x version users should upgrade to at least 4.2.5. Users operating versions prior to those listed above should upgrade to the aforementioned patched versions or newer versions. The currently supported Apache Pulsar release lines are 4.0.x and 5.0.x. The supported versions schedule is available at https://pulsar.apache.org/contribute/release-policy/. | Fri 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-63016 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, inlong | Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in Apache InLong. Users could affect operational configuration or allow upload of non-official packages. This issue affects Apache InLong: from 2.0.0 before 2.4.0. Users are advised to upgrade to Apache InLong's 2.4.0 or cherry-pick [1] to solve it. [1] https://github.com/apache/inlong/pull/12095 https://github.com/apache/inlong/pull/11732 | 18 Oct |
| CVE-2026-31387 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, ofbiz | Improper Authentication vulnerability in Apache OFBiz. This issue affects Apache OFBiz: before 24.09.06. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 24.09.06, which fixes the issue. | 14 Oct |
| CVE-2026-75099 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, allura | Unauthenticated REST disclosure of certain content items in Apache Allura. This issue affects Apache Allura: through 1.19.1. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 1.20.0, which fixes the issue. | 12 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105239 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, log4net | Improper Neutralization of Null Byte or NUL Character vulnerability in the EventLogAppender of Apache log4net. A NUL character in logged content ended the Windows Event Log record at that point, so everything the layout rendered after it, including exception text and trailing fields, was silently not stored. A party whose data reaches a log message could hide the rest of that record. Only applications on Windows that use EventLogAppender are affected. This issue affects Apache log4net: from 1.2.9 before 3.5.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.5.0, which fixes the issue. | 9 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105240 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, log4net | Improper Neutralization of Null Byte or NUL Character vulnerability in the OutputDebugStringAppender of Apache log4net. A NUL character in logged content ended the debug output record at that point, so everything the layout rendered after it, including exception text and trailing fields, was silently lost. A party whose data reaches a log message could hide the rest of that record. Only applications on Windows that use OutputDebugStringAppender are affected. This issue affects Apache log4net: from 1.2.9 before 3.5.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.5.0, which fixes the issue. | 9 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105241 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, log4net | Improper Handling of Unicode Encoding vulnerability in the SmtpPickupDirAppender of Apache log4net. Content that the mail file writer cannot encode, such as an unpaired UTF-16 surrogate, made the write throw. Every buffered event in the batch was discarded, not only the one carrying the content, and a truncated mail could be left in the pickup directory. A party whose data reaches a log message could suppress the records of other events. Only applications that use SmtpPickupDirAppender are affected. This issue affects Apache log4net: from 1.2.9 before 3.5.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.5.0, which fixes the issue. | 9 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105242 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, log4net | Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the aspnet-request pattern converter of Apache log4net. Reading request parameters triggers ASP.NET request validation, so a request carrying content such as markup made the layout throw and the appender discarded the whole event. A sender could suppress the log record of their own request. Only applications on ASP.NET for .NET Framework whose layout uses %aspnet-request are affected. This issue affects Apache log4net: from 1.2.11 before 3.5.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.5.0, which fixes the issue. | 9 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105243 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, log4net | Insufficient Logging vulnerability in the EventLogAppender of Apache log4net. Long messages were truncated to a fixed size that exceeds what the Windows Event Log accepts once the log and source names are counted, and the event log then stored nothing and reported nothing. A party whose data reaches a log message could suppress the whole record by making it long enough. Only applications on Windows that use EventLogAppender are affected. This issue affects Apache log4net: from 1.2.9 before 3.5.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.5.0, which fixes the issue. | 9 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105244 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, log4net | Improper Encoding or Escaping of Output vulnerability in the RemoteSyslogAppender of Apache log4net. Every character outside visible ASCII and space was removed from the record instead of being escaped, so non-ASCII text and control characters such as tabs disappeared without notice. A party whose data reaches a log message could make a distinct value look identical in the record, for example a user name holding a zero-width space logged as admin. Only applications that use RemoteSyslogAppender are affected. This issue affects Apache log4net: from 1.2.12 before 3.5.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.5.0, which fixes the issue. | 9 Oct |
| CVE-2025-61795 | 5.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, tomcat | Improper Resource Shutdown or Release vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. If an error occurred (including exceeding limits) during the processing of a multipart upload, temporary copies of the uploaded parts written to disc were not cleaned up immediately but left for the garbage collection process to delete. Depending on JVM settings, application memory usage and application load, it was possible that space for the temporary copies of uploaded parts would be filled faster than GC cleared it, leading to a DoS. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.11, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.46, from 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.109. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: 8.5.0 though 8.5.100. Other, older, EOL versions may also be affected. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.12 or later, 10.1.47 or later or 9.0.110 or later which fixes the issue. | 8 Oct |
| CVE-2026-44913 | 5.2 medium | 1.0% | apache, nifi | Improper escaping of database table names in the CaptureChangeMySQL Processor included with Apache NiFi 1.2.0 through 2.9.0 allows for injecting SQL commands using crafted naming. Manual quoted boundaries added in Apache NiFi 1.8.0 narrowed the scope of potential injection options, but did not cover additional strategies. Apache NiFi installations that do not use the CaptureChangeMySQL Processor are not subject to this vulnerability. Upgrading to Apache NiFi 2.10.0 is the recommended mitigation, which incorporates more robust identifier escaping. | Sun 25 Oct |
| CVE-2026-61399 | 4.8 medium | 1.0% | apache, cloudstack | Improper Encoding or Escaping of Output vulnerability in Apache CloudStack's UI while using Lock User Functionality. This issue affects Apache CloudStack: from 4.20.0.0 through 4.20.3.0 and from 4.21.0.0 through 4.22.1.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.20.3.1 or 4.22.1.1 or later, which fixes the issue. | 16 Oct |
| CVE-2026-33929 | 4.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, pdfbox | Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') vulnerability in Apache PDFBox Examples. This issue affects the ExtractEmbeddedFiles example in Apache PDFBox: from 2.0.24 through 2.0.36, from 3.0.0 through 3.0.7. Users are recommended to update to version 2.0.37 or 3.0.8 once available. Until then, they should apply the fix provided in GitHub PR 427. The ExtractEmbeddedFiles example contained a path traversal vulnerability (CWE-22) mentioned in CVE-2026-23907. However the change in the releases 2.0.36 and 3.0.7 is flawed because it doesn't consider the file path separator. Because of that, a user having writing rights on /home/ABC could be victim to a malicious PDF resulting in a write attempt to any path starting with /home/ABC, e.g. "/home/ABCDEF". Users who have copied this example into their production code should apply the mentioned change. The example has been changed accordingly and is available in the project repository. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-48891 | 4.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, airflow | A bug in Apache Airflow's `/ui/dependencies` scheduling graph endpoint applied the caller's readable-Dag filter to the top-level serialized Dag key but still emitted referenced Dag IDs through the `dep.source` and `dep.target` fields of trigger / sensor dependency entries. An authenticated UI user with read permission on some Dags could enumerate the identifiers of other Dags they were not authorized to read by inspecting the dependency graph for trigger / sensor references. Affects deployments that rely on per-Dag read scoping to keep Dag identifiers private across teams. This is a residual gap in the fix for CVE-2026-28563, which filtered the top-level Dag key but did not propagate the filter into the trigger / sensor dep-source / dep-target fields. Users who already upgraded for CVE-2026-28563 should additionally upgrade to `apache-airflow` 3.3.0 or later to cover the residual trigger / sensor dependency leak. | Sun 25 Oct |
| CVE-2025-64406 | 4.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, openoffice | An out-of-bounds Write vulnerability in Apache OpenOffice could allow an attacker to craft a document that would crash the program, or otherwise corrupt other memory areas. This issue affects Apache OpenOffice: through 4.1.15. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.1.16, which fixes the issue. | 18 Oct |
| CVE-2026-63015 | 4.3 medium | 1.0% | apache, inlong | Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in Apache InLong. Non-template responsible persons can view template information. This issue affects Apache InLong: from 2.0.0 before 2.4.0. Users are advised to upgrade to Apache InLong's 2.4.0 or cherry-pick [1] to solve it. [1] https://github.com/apache/inlong/pull/12093 https://github.com/apache/inlong/pull/11732 | 18 Oct |
| CVE-2026-49231 | 2.3 low | 1.0% | apache, apisix | Authentication Bypass by Spoofing vulnerability in opa plugin. An attacker could relay spoofed identity headers to upstream capitalising on non-default configuration in opa plugin. This could allow the attacker to assume higher privileges on the upstream service. This issue affects Apache APISIX: from 3.5.0 through 3.16.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.17.0, which fixes the issue. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-44911 | 2.3 low | 1.0% | apache, nifi | Authorization handling for component configuration verification requests in Apache NiFi 1.15.0 through 2.9.0 allows clients with read access to submit proposed configuration properties. The proposed properties override current configuration, enabling users with read access to invoke predefined verification methods with alternative settings. Apache NiFi installations that do not implement different levels of authorization for viewing and modifying component configuration are not subject to this vulnerability. Upgrading to Apache NiFi 2.10.0 is the recommended mitigation, requiring write access to submit configuration verification requests. | Sun 25 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105932 | 2.3 low | 1.0% | no CPE yet | The Apache Pulsar broker admin REST API provides endpoints to read, set and remove the topic-level entry filter policy of a topic. For persistent topics these endpoints check that the caller is authorized for the entry filters topic policy operation. The corresponding endpoints for non-persistent topics (/admin/v2/non-persistent/{tenant}/{namespace}/{topic}/entryFilters) do not perform this authorization check. The only authorization check these endpoints perform is an indirect lookup permission check, made while the topic's partition metadata is retrieved; it is present in all affected versions. As a result, when authentication and authorization are enabled, an authenticated user who has been granted produce or consume permission on a non-persistent topic, or on its namespace, but not permission to manage the topic's policies can read, replace or remove the topic-level entry filter policy of that topic. These operations should be restricted to users with the tenant admin role or the superuser role. This impact analysis assumes that Pulsar has been configured with the default authorization provider. For custom authorization providers, the impact could be slightly different. The practical impact is limited by two broker configuration requirements, neither of which is met by default: - Entry filters must have been installed by the operator. Entry filter implementations are loaded only at broker startup from the broker's entry filters directory, which is empty by default. A request can only select among entry filters the operator has already deployed; setting any other filter name is rejected. The issue does not allow a caller to install or load entry filter code or to run arbitrary code in the broker. - Topic-level entry filter policies must be allowed to override the broker-level configuration (allowOverrideEntryFilters, which is disabled by default). When this setting is disabled, the topic-level entry filter policy has no effect on message dispatch. In deployments where both conditions are met, an unauthorized user can remove the topic-level entry filter policy of a non-persistent topic, for example one used to restrict which messages are delivered to consumers, or apply a different installed entry filter that withholds messages from subscriptions of that topic. Removing it makes the topic fall back to the namespace-level or broker-level entry filters, which are not removed. A changed policy affects only subscription dispatchers created after the change, for example for new subscriptions or when a subscription is re-created after all of its consumers have disconnected; dispatchers that already exist keep the entry filters they were created with. Because non-persistent topics do not store messages, messages withheld by an entry filter are not delivered. Reading the policy discloses only the names of the configured entry filters. The issue does not allow reading message contents, and entry filters cannot modify message payloads. Persistent topics and namespace-level entry filter policies are not affected. Apache Pulsar versions before 3.3.0 are not affected, because in those versions the entry filters topic policy check is made in code shared by the persistent and non-persistent endpoints. This issue affects Apache Pulsar versions from 3.3.0 before 4.0.14 and from 4.1.0 before 4.2.5. - 3.3.x and 4.0.x version users should upgrade to at least 4.0.14. Users who cannot upgrade immediately and have deployed entry filters should keep allowOverrideEntryFilters at its default value of false, so that topic-level entry filter policies do not affect message dispatch. | Fri 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105938 | 2.3 low | 1.0% | no CPE yet | Apache Pulsar namespaces can restrict which roles may use a subscription, either with the Prefix subscription authentication mode, which requires a subscription name to start with the role name, or by granting permission on a subscription to specific roles. Topic-level subscription operations, such as consuming, skipping messages, resetting a cursor or deleting a subscription, apply these subscription policies. Several admin REST API operations that act on subscriptions did not apply them: - the namespace-level and bundle-level clear backlog operations, both for a named subscription and for all subscriptions; - the namespace-level and bundle-level unsubscribe operations; - the topic-level operation that expires messages for all subscriptions of a topic. With the default authorization provider, the namespace-level operations require only consume permission granted on the namespace, and the expire-all operation requires only consume permission on the topic. As a result, when authentication and authorization are enabled and a namespace uses the Prefix subscription authentication mode or subscription permissions, an authenticated user with such consume permission can clear the backlog of, expire messages of, or delete a subscription that the policies would deny to that user. Tenant admin or superuser access is not required. The clear backlog operations can also be applied to the cursors used for geo-replication, so that messages not yet replicated to a remote cluster are skipped. Deployments that do not configure the Prefix subscription authentication mode or subscription permissions (the defaults) are not affected by this bypass, because consume permission on the namespace or topic already allows these operations there. This impact analysis assumes that Pulsar has been configured with the default authorization provider. For custom authorization providers, the impact could be different. The impact is on the integrity of subscription state. Clearing or expiring the backlog moves the subscription's cursor forward, so unacknowledged messages are no longer delivered to the subscription's consumers. The unsubscribe operation deletes a subscription that has no connected consumers. Skipped messages can be permanently deleted once no other subscription or the namespace's retention policy keeps them. The issue does not allow reading message contents, changing permissions or policies, or accessing other namespaces, and it does not affect the availability of the broker. In fixed versions, the namespace-level and bundle-level operations for a named subscription apply the subscription policies to that subscription, and the operations for all subscriptions, when requested by a user who is not a tenant admin or superuser, only act on the subscriptions that the user may access. Clearing the backlog of geo-replication cursors requires tenant admin or superuser access. Topic-level subscription operations apply the subscription policies for all types of authentication data, including that of the anonymous user role. This issue affects Apache Pulsar versions from 2.8.0 before 4.0.14 and from 4.1.0 before 4.2.5. - 4.0.x version users should upgrade to at least 4.0.14. - 4.1.x and 4.2.x version users should upgrade to at least 4.2.5. All brokers in a cluster must be upgraded before relying on the namespace-level restrictions, because brokers that have not been upgraded do not apply them when they receive the internal per-bundle requests. Users who cannot upgrade immediately can reduce exposure by restricting network access to the broker's admin REST API to trusted administrative clients. | Fri 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-105931 | 2.3 low | 1.0% | no CPE yet | The Apache Pulsar broker exposes a transaction administration REST API under /admin/v3/transactions. When authentication and authorization are enabled, most of the read endpoints of this API verify only that the request is authenticated and that the broker serves the requested topic or transaction coordinator. They do not check whether the caller is permitted to access the tenant, namespace or topic whose data is returned. The endpoints that modify state, which abort a transaction or scale the transaction coordinators, correctly require super-user access and are not affected. As a result, any authenticated user, including one that has been granted no permissions, can read transaction coordinator and transaction information belonging to other tenants. This includes the list of transaction coordinators with the broker service URLs that serve them, transaction coordinator statistics and internal statistics, transaction metadata including the names of the topics and subscriptions a transaction involves and the principal that opened it, the list of long-running transactions on a transaction coordinator, transaction buffer and pending acknowledgement statistics and internal statistics for any topic and subscription, and whether a given message position of a subscription is currently held in a pending transactional acknowledgement. The disclosure of transaction metadata and statistics can only occur when transaction support is enabled in the broker (transactionCoordinatorEnabled, which is disabled by default). When transaction support is disabled, these endpoints return no transaction data; the only residual effect is that one endpoint's error response can reveal whether a named topic exists in another tenant. The impact is limited to disclosure of transaction-related metadata and statistics across tenant boundaries. The issue does not allow reading message contents, modifying or aborting transactions, or changing any configuration. Users who cannot upgrade immediately and do not use Pulsar transactions should keep transaction support disabled. Where transactions are required, restricting network access to the broker's admin HTTP endpoints to trusted administrative clients reduces the exposure. | 22 Oct |

| CVE-2026-103513 | 9.8 critical | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Out-of-bounds read and write in the CPC sketch deserialization of Apache DataSketches C++ (repo: datasketches-cpp). A crafted serialized CPC sketch passed to cpc_sketch::deserialize(), from either a byte buffer or a stream, can cause the decompressor to read past the end of the compressed data, because the read position was only checked after decoding finished. In the hybrid flavor, it can also cause a write outside an internal heap buffer, because decoded row indices were not validated. Several other header fields and decoded values, including lg_k, were also not validated. This can corrupt heap memory, causing a crash and potentially enabling further exploitation. This issue affects Apache DataSketches C++: from 2.0.0-incubating before 5.3.0. Only applications that deserialize CPC sketches from untrusted sources are affected. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 5.3.0, which fixes this issue. | 16 Oct |
| CVE-2026-54630 | 9.6 critical | 0.00% | no CPE yet | Part-DB is an open source inventory management system for electronic components. Prior to version 2.12.1, the part attachment upload handler stores uploaded files under the web-served media directory using the client-supplied file extension, and its extension blocklist does not include phar. AttachmentSubmitHandler::renameBlacklistedExtensions() rewrites dangerous extensions (php, phtml, sh, cgi, py, js, html, htaccess, ...) to .txt, but phar is absent from the list, so a .phar file keeps its extension. Public attachments (the default) are written into public/media/, which is the Apache document root. The shipped Apache configuration routes .phar to PHP-FPM, so the stored file is executed as PHP on request. The per-attachment-type extension filter is empty by default and is not consulted by the upload handler in a way that blocks this, and a non-admin user in the default users group can create an attachment type with no filter and attach files to parts. Any authenticated user in the default users group uploads a .phar attachment to a part and fetches it under /media/, executing arbitrary PHP as the www-data web user. Ability to exploit depends on the webserver config, docker image contained the vulnerability by default. This issue has been patched in version 2.12.1. | Fri 23 Oct |
| CVE-2026-42809 | 9.4 critical | 0.00% | apache, polaris | Apache Polaris can issue broad temporary ("vended") storage credentials during staged table creation before the effective table location has been validated or durably reserved. Those temporary credentials are meant to limit the scope of accessible table data and metadata, but this scope limitation becomes attacker- directed because the attacker can choose a reachable target location. In the confirmed variant, if the caller supplies a custom `location` during stage create and requests credential vending, Apache Polaris uses that location to construct delegated storage credentials immediately. The stage-create path itself neither runs the normal location validation nor the overlap checks before those credentials are issued. Closely related to that, the staged-create flow also accepts `write.data.path` / `write.metadata.path` in the request properties and feeds those location overrides into the same effective table location set used for credential vending. Those fields are secondary to the main custom-`location` exploit, but they are still attacker-influenced location inputs that should be validated before any credentials are issued. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-42810 | 9.4 critical | 0.00% | apache, polaris | Apache Polaris accepts literal `*` characters in namespace and table names. When it later builds temporary S3 access policies for delegated table access, those same characters appear to be reused unescaped in S3 IAM resource patterns and `s3:prefix` conditions. In S3 IAM policy matching, `*` is treated as a wildcard rather than as ordinary text. That means temporary credentials issued for one crafted table can match the storage path of a different table. In private testing against Polaris 1.4.0 using Polaris' AWS S3 temporary- credential path on both MinIO and real AWS S3, credentials returned for crafted tables such as `f*.t1`, `f*.*`, `*.*`, and `foo.*` could reach other tables' S3 locations. The confirmed behavior includes: - reading another table's metadata control file ([Iceberg metadata JSON]); - listing another table's exact S3 table prefix ([table prefix]); - and, when write delegation was returned for the crafted table, creating and deleting an object under another table's exact S3 table prefix. A control case using ordinary different names did not allow the same cross-table access. A least-privilege AWS S3 variant was also confirmed in which the attacker principal had no Polaris permissions on the victim table and only the minimal permissions required to create and use a crafted wildcard table (namespace-scoped `TABLE_CREATE` and `TABLE_WRITE_DATA` on `*`). In that setup, direct Polaris access to `foo.t1` remained forbidden, but the attacker could still create and load `*.*`, receive delegated S3 credentials, and use those credentials to list, read, create, and delete objects under `foo.t1`. In Iceberg, the metadata JSON file is a control file: it tells readers which data files belong to the table, which snapshots exist, and which table version to read. So unauthorized access to it is already a meaningful confidentiality problem. The confirmed write-capable variant means the issue is not limited to disclosure. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-42811 | 9.4 critical | 0.00% | apache, polaris | In plain terms, Apache Polaris is supposed to issue short-lived GCS credentials that only work for one table's files, but a crafted namespace or table name can cause those credentials to work across the configured bucket instead. Apache Polaris builds Google Cloud Storage downscoped credentials by creating a Credential Access Boundary (CAB) with CEL conditions that are intended to restrict access to the requested table's storage path. The relevant CEL string is built from the bucket name and the table path. That table path is derived from namespace and table identifiers. In current code, that path appears to be inserted into the CEL expression without escaping. As a result, a namespace or table identifier containing a single quote and other URI-safe CEL fragments can break out of the intended quoted string and change the meaning of the CEL condition. In private testing against Polaris 1.4.0 on real Google Cloud Storage, it was confirmed that Polaris accepted a crafted identifier and returned delegated GCS credentials whose CEL path restriction had effectively collapsed. Those delegated credentials could then: - list another table's object prefix; - read another table's metadata control file (Iceberg metadata JSON); - create and delete an object under another table's object prefix; - and also list, read, create, and delete objects under an unrelated external prefix in the same bucket that was not part of any table path. That last point is important. The issue is not limited to "another table". In the confirmed setup, once Apache Polaris returned credentials for the crafted table, the path restriction inside the configured bucket was effectively gone. The practical effect is that temporary credentials for one crafted table can be broader than the table Polaris was asked to authorize, and can become effectively bucket-wide within the configured bucket. The current GCS testing used a Polaris principal with broad catalog privileges for setup. A separate least-privilege Polaris RBAC variant has not yet been tested on GCS. However, the storage-credential broadening behavior itself has been confirmed on GCS. | Mon 26 Oct |
| CVE-2026-42812 | 9.4 critical | 0.00% | apache, polaris | In Apache Iceberg, the table's metadata files are control files: they tell readers which data files belong to the table and which table version to read. `write.metadata.path` is an optional table property that tells Polaris where to write those metadata files. For a table already registered in a Polaris-managed catalog, changing only that property through an `ALTER TABLE`-style settings change (not a row-level `INSERT`, `SELECT`, `UPDATE`, or `DELETE`) bypasses the commit-time branch that is supposed to revalidate storage locations. The full persisted / credential-vending variant requires the affected catalog to have `polaris.config.allow.unstructured.table.location=true`, with `allowedLocations` broad enough to include the attacker-chosen target. `allowedLocations` is the admin-configured allowlist of storage paths that the catalog is allowed to use. Public project materials suggest that this flag is a real supported compatibility / layout mode, not just a contrived lab-only prerequisite. In that configuration, a user who can change table settings can cause Apache Polaris itself to write new table metadata to an attacker-chosen reachable storage location before the intended location-validation branch runs. If the later concrete-path validation also accepts that location, Polaris persists the resulting metadata path into stored table state. Later table-load and credential APIs can then return temporary cloud-storage credentials for the same location without revalidating it. In plain terms, Polaris can later hand out temporary storage access for the same attacker-chosen area. That attacker-chosen area does not need to be limited to the poisoned table's own files. If it is a broader storage prefix, another table's prefix, or, depending on configuration or provider behavior, even a bucket/container root, the resulting disclosure or corruption scope can extend to any data and metadata Polaris can reach there. The practical consequences are therefore similar to the staged-create credential-vending issue already discussed: data and metadata reachable in that storage scope can be exposed and, if write-capable credentials are later issued, modified, corrupted, or removed. Even before that later credential step, Polaris itself performs the metadata write to the unchecked location. So the core issue is not only later credential vending. The primary defect is that Polaris skips its intended location checks before performing a security- sensitive metadata write when only `write.metadata.path` changes. When `polaris.config.allow.unstructured.table.location=false`, current code review suggests the later `updateTableLike(...)` validation usually rejects out-of-tree metadata locations before the unsafe path is persisted. That may reduce the persisted / credential-vending variant, but it does not prevent the underlying defect: Polaris still skips the intended pre-write location check when only `write.metadata.path` changes. | Mon 26 Oct |
